just got off the phone with eurosport http://www.eurosporthighperformance.com/contact.html
the ITG air filters came in on tuesday and where shipped out yesterday to those of you on the waiting list, he verified that i was sent one which made my day. they are being sent fed ex groud so delivery times will vary depending where you live, i am hoping to see mine by monday. they are currently out of stock again but they are taking orders for the next bunch. he apologized for the wait, since it was only supposed to be 2 weeks, but it had turned into 4. oh well, they are on the way and i just wanted to spread the news. hopefully the filter is an easy thing to change.

All you need is a Torx #20 and a flathead screwdriver and it takes about 5 minutes to remove all 6 torx screws and the losen the hose clamp on the left side. Yank the old filter and put the new one in. The ITG overlaps the edge of the filter box, I think that's what holds it in place vs. the rigid frame on the factory filter that sits in the box. Good luck!

i cant wait to get my filter already. i already got my torx 20 screw driver waiting. I took the old filter out and cleaned it a cupple times so this should be easy. the filter was out in less then 3 min so this should be just as easy.

the torx screws don't have to be removed all the way. you can leave them in the top cover of the filter...

The screws are 'captive' so they don't fall into the intake and cause some serious damage. Just unscrew them until they jiggle, you can tell when they are out. If the unscrewing gets really hard again you went too far.

there is not a part number really because it not officially a real part, they are custom made, just tell them its for a c230 and they will make sure you get the correct part.

We have tested them on C230k Coupes as well as the C32. Both cars lost power. The ITG filters are currently designed to thick, thus airflow is restricted. ITG is remaking the filters for us, but none of the new style for the Mercedes have been released.

Thanks

Ben

i noticed they'd debited my account on wednesday; hopefully the filter will be waiting for me when i get home today. is there any need to oil it up before you install, or does it come pre-lubricated?

i heard it comes pre lubricated, like a trojan. but i did purchase a can of filter oil with my air filter so i can keep it in top notch shape after it starts to dry out some. i think it was like 5 bucks or something..

It is pre-oiled. Mine was shipped with a spray bomb can of extra oil. The English (UK) instructions for re-oiling include tips on "massaging the oil." I'll
save that for an escort service. "Please send a blond in overalls....

The ITG filter is a foam filter as opposed to the paper filters in stock. Size comparison between the 2 doesn't make a difference because they are completely different. The point is that there is too much foam, and thus power was lost.

Thanks

OK, post the dyno results for the C-Coupe or I can come over and you can do a before/after on my coupe, take only a few minutes to switch them. I didn't have my stock filter with me on the the last dyno.

Has anyone actually done a dyno (besides a butt dyno!) to see if the ITG filter makes any difference? Or is it just a matter of anything is better than the stock filter?

Yes, we have tested ITG filters on C32, E320, and C-coupe. In all cases they lost power. As much as 14HP on C32. Part of that loss is due to the design of C32 airboxes - air comes through the side of the air filter. Stock paper element can breathe through the side, ITG cannot - thus air restriction and HP loss.

On C-coupe it was 5 HP loss vs. stock. Taking filter out completely, yields additional 4 HP over stock.

Buellwinkle's c-coupe we ran with and without ITG filter. Without filter car made 7 HP more. Do your own math.

Like Ben said, new thinner ITG filter are on the way for more testing.

Thank you for listening.

Actually a dyno was never done on my car comparing factory filter to ITG filter. But if you want numbers, the difference between factory and no filter was about 6hp and the difference between factory and ITG filter was about 4hp. So my guess, although hasn't been directly proven is that the ITG filter is good for 2hp gain. Can the filter be improved, absolutely there's potential but I think the next step is a K&N cone filter on a tuned intake tube in place of the airbox.

Like I said before, I'm more than willing to try another dyno to settle the issue.

Just a thought, call Renntech and see what they claim for the filter, it was made to their specs.
