DIY: Front and Rear Sway Bars

This is a DIY to replace your stock sway bars.
I replaced mines with H&R.

FRONT

1) Place Front of Car on Rhino-Ramps

2) Remove Bottom Pan (Six 8mm Screws)

3) Remove 16mm Nut on both endlinks (hold 8mm center)

4) Remove two E12 inverted torx bolts on each side

5) Take out Swaybar

6) Put Swaybar in the endlinks, do not put nuts back on yet

7) Put the 2 E12 Inverted Torx bolts back in on each side

8) Put endlink nuts back on

REAR

1) Put Rear Of Car On Rhino-Ramps

2) Remove 16mm endlink nuts on both sides while holding the inverted torx bolt on other side with a 12mm wrench

3) Remove 2 E12 Inverted Torx bolts on each side

4) Take car off Rhino-Ramps, jack up Right-Rear Side and Remove wheel.

5) Pull Swaybar out through that side. (it will take a little while, but dont give up.)

6) Put Swaybar in the endlinks, do not put nuts back on yet

7) Put the 2 E12 Inverted Torx bolts back in on each side

8) Put the 2 16mm endlink nuts back in while holding the inverted torx bolt with a 12mm wrench

Rlee,

great work man. This is exactly what this board needs. More DIY and less wings and stickers.

Did you get any squeeking? Can you comment on how the car feels. Less, Understeer, etc. I'm considering this mod, but a previous poster left zero useful information on the car's characteristics post install.

Again, great job, best post I have seen in some time.

A very well done DIY...

If one is seeking improved handling feel, (and increased cornering speed) upgraded anti-roll bars are a cost-effective and relatively simple modification. After wheels, tires, dampers and springs, they are 'bout all we have left to fiddle with! ...H&R produces quality products. YMMV

thanks!

there are a couple different brands you could go with:

Stock: 20 mm front and 13 mm rear
C32: 22 mm front and 16 mm rear
H&R: 26 mm front and 19 mm rear
Evosport: 24 mm front and 19 mm rear
Eibach: 24 mm front and 22 mm rear

i would recommend going with a H&R front and a Eibach rear

If your W203 would like a pair of gratis C32 bars, kindly send a PM. Otherwise, they'll get tossed in the recycle bin!

Thanks to those of you on this forum whose posts inform and enlighten...

Nice writeup. Do you have a problem if I post this on my site www.installuniversity.com?

Did you upgrade the bushings???

I'm not sure on this car but some of the others I've done I removed 1 of the rear tires, and the bar came out easier. I like the bar compairison, I'm looking at changing mine soon but I need struts too so I'm trying to decide on AMG or Bilstien struts. Thanks for the info.

Does anyone know if sedan/wagon and amg/non amg/4matic rear sway bars are interchangeable?

Thanks!
