i just chose factory warranty. after that's up ill probably go to an independent shop anyway. nothing major should really go within the factory warranty year/mileage and something does that's what it's there for.

some aftermarket extended warranty covers more items than factory extended warranty.

I have factory extended warranty, but I rather have aftermarket ones, since it's cheaper and covers more

Prior to extending my warranty, I asked my MB service advisor which aftermarket warranty they accept. Continental was the answer, so I got Continental (the best they offered). Cost was under $2100. Used it once...They simply called it in and received a credit card #. Nothing out of my pocket and my warranty is 10 yrs / 100K. Like the poster above mentioned, it covers more than the MB...plus, no deductible. I should mention that I wasn't even able to get a MB warranty...

I didn't buy the car new. My Auto Sales told me about it and suggested that about a month or two before the factory warranty was up I should consider it. I tried looking for a website but wasn't certain it the one I found was actually Continental. I called continental myself and try to purchase directly from them but they stated that they only go through certain dealers.

I'll get more info tomorrow. The place I bought my MBs will give me the necessary info and i'll post it for you...

If we use Starmark MB extended warranty, do we need to pay for any labour? I know some parts are covered fully but not sure about the labour though.

How about a loaner car ? Do we still entitled to get one if we use our extended warranty?

You dont have to pay for labor. You have a deductable. Kind of like insurance.

Getting a loaner depends on the dealer.

Under $2100 for 10 years/100K, it's not a bad price. I'm interested to see the website of this continental warranty. I might get it too.

What if the dealer did a check-up and found nothing, do we have to pay for the labour?

I have an "aftermarket" 8 yr/80kmi for my C320. I'm not sure the name of the company but I'll check. I've got bumper to bumper, drivetrain, electrical, mechanical, etc..... The only thing not covered is "trim". $0 deductible and I purchased it for about $1500. The first month I had it I brought the car in for "A" service and some warranty issues. My bill would have been $2600 without it. All labor was covered also. My car is an extremely low mileage '01. Thats why my factory warranty was not available.

A friend who owned a dealership told me never to buy an extended warranty. He believed it was better to put the money in the bank when it came to all the troubles they had with the warranty companies he has delt with. With that said the one time I looked, the best deal I found was with my credit union. It was the same warranty as the dealer was trying to sell me at half the price. Around $1600.00 for five year coverage I believe. Exended warranty companies are a mulyi billion dollar industry covering all kinds of products and they try too get out of covering things in many casses, you have to keep on them sometimes to get coverage. I have seen where a young couple I worked with had there car die, needed a new engine, and the company would only pay what the warranty cost. I have had several other problem with covering electronics and things like that and I just don't give them my money anymore.
