K&N Filter Element 2001 C240 W203
Today the KN Filter elements came in from ups, along with the evosport pulleys. Installation is a breeze with the K&N's, however I Dont understand what the gasket is for. The original mb filters gasket that is attached to the filter is exactly what the KN's look like. By putting a seperate gasket in there you might do more damage by creating non-sealed areas due to seperation caused by the KN gasket. Maybe the gasket is for other cars, who knows...
The performance gains were really noticeable, especially due to the recent plug change to Denso Iridium. The combination of KN and plugs is a reccomendation for anyone of limited skill. Highway speeds are easily attained while pressing even less down on the pedal. I was driving at 70mph and floored it, even down to the little button on the pedal.. She was off! I hit 95 mph really fast, faster than normal. I'm really impressed thus far. It also gets 25.1 mpg at 70mph, where as I used to pull low 23.6, an increase of 1.5 mpg! Looks like these mods will be paying for themselves at the pump.
I believe the plug/filter combination is directly affected by the cold air intake by mercedes benz. I chose to keep the factory intake b/c of its great design, and just change the filters.
Merry Christmas!
If the motor gets a chance to cool down, I'm going to install the pulley's next.

K&N is really worth the money. Besides obvious savings on filter replacements, you save on gas. On my compressor it used to be around 32 mpg just by the MB spec, with K&N 36 is normal, but if driving gently in range 60-70 mph will go up to 39
Took this picture tonight, it's poor quality, but still you can see 37.3 mpg

And yes, it does look like they're all the same.

there seems to be a common related issue with K/N and MAF problems, while it is disputed I am not taking a chance

What do you guys think of the electric supercharger by B&B found here http://www.globalautoshop.com/access...benz_index.htm I have heard reviews already from people who have never owned one, but has anyone actually tried it?

I had one; had a Green previously, which disintigrated on me.
I never really noticed a difference honesty; maybe there would have been one that showed up on a dyno, but never got around to checking.
Then got a new airbox, which already had a stock one already included, so just kept that instead.
I did have some MAF issues when I had the Green on, but not with the K&N. Overall, if you're going out of your way to get a K&N to replace a functional OEM filter, probably not worth it, but if you're going to replace an OEM one, it might be worth it to see if your butt dyno records any difference.
