Transmission slipping
Hey everyone new member here with a couple questions?
I'm having some recent problems with my C240, some punk broke into my car and stole my stereo, in doing so my wire harness was cut back to a stub and since this occured my vehicle has been giving me trouble starting. Someone is telling me this could be due to my key not working but my key is 2 months new, also it's being recognized by the car because it lets me unlock the steering. The problem is the ignition won't kick over, the car attempts to turn but no luck, after various fustrating attempts the car will kick over and start.
Also my transmission is slipping, sometimes it gets stuck in gear or sometimes it will slip out of gear while i'm driving, the funny thing is that the car will slip out of gear while still in Drive, i pull over, do nothing, and without touching the shifter, i just give it gas and it'll start driving fine. This is freakin scary **** everyone. Does anyone also have a clue what a new trans will cost me
I took my car to keyes Vannuys and paid for a diagnosis and no luck. i recieved the worst service and paid 230 bucks to find nothing out, i was told i need a new trans but was not given a reason, also various other issues i asked about were not addressed. if anyone has had simular experiences within what i've asked i'd appreciate it. If this is directly related to the theft, isn't this an insurance issue? You might want to check to see if your insurance company won't cover the cost of any repairs (and diagnostics). Just a thought so you don't get stuck with all the bills.

when i place the key in and give it a turn, the car attempts to start but after about 5-7 seconds it dies, i give it numerous attempts and about after 20 or so fail attempts, it finally starts, my check engine light will stay on for about 1-2 days after this. also once it starts it's good for another couple days before it starts acting up again. wth could it be. also i went back to the dealer and got them to refund me half my money. they gave me a bunch of error codes but did'nt tell me what they mean. if i post can someone tell me what they are.

crank position sensor fault will make the car attempt to start, but it will shut off right away. It starts 20min because the sensor that's gone bad sometimes will work again after it cools down.
my dealer replaced the crank position sensor for me and they found rust on the sensor and it was caused by sensor not seating properly.

My guess as well. (If the engine turns over with the starter but times out and stops before it starts.) Common problem, happened to me as well. There's a thread that talks about where it is and replacement....one bolt holding it in and an electric connector is all. Post the codes, maybe someone will know.

Thanks FrankW, damn that sucks, any clue on my trannie, it's freakin strange mayn, i'm driving and all of a sudden bam i'm in nuetral, this is without touching the shifter, I pull over don't touch the shifter, or anything i just give it gas and bam, it goes just fine. or sometimes i'll be driving in triptronic and it'll get stuck in whatever gear im in, again same thing, i pull over and do nothing and i'm good all over again. i'm going to post some error codes hopefully someone can tell me what they are.

sup everyone my car died today, i was driving back from mountain high and all of a sudden while coasting down the road my car shuts off, all my guage cluster lights come on and as soon as i slow down my wheel locks. Freaking scary ****, either way this is the straw that broke the camels back, i'm thinking i need a new transmission and a crank sensor, with the money i'm going to spend i might as well buy a new car, i'm thinking of parting my car out and either trading in or selling. what do you guys think my car's worth, i have 19x9/19x10 HRE 841's, front and rear Brembos, Carlson coilovers, Pulley upgrade, Optima battery, some painted engine covers, a full system, 4 TV's, Diamond Audio all around, Pheniox gold titanium amps, 12" JL w6v2 subs, Lorinser rear, lorinser sides, Lorinser rear wing and deck lid, Expressions front, and also custom Brabus leather int. with suede headling, oh yah the trunk is all suede as well, there's a bunch of little things i'm forgetting but regardless, what do you guys think my car is worth, would i be better off parting out and trading in. or should i try and sell private party. i'm trying to think what i'll walk away with if i do either. if i part i'm thinking i'll pull in about 7-8 G's plus whatever i get for stock car. or if I sell as is, i'm assuming around 20-25K. i'm sure others have gone through simular occurances and some insite would help.
