It is a DIY, but you're not going to gain that much horsepower.

Whoops, good catch.
Another brand you could try would be BMC?

I dont know HP gains, that might be a myth. What you do get is better throttle response and a different engine sound. I have the double KN setup for c240 w/ ram air or cold air what have you.

I dynoed it several times for fun. With a stock car, no other mods, K&N got me just over zero HP, .1 at the rear wheels which is almost .13 at the crank. With my foam filter from ITG I got about 1HP at the rear wheels.

But here's the side benefit people don't talk about. With a cheaper, poorly made filter that doesn't sit in the housing right or doesn't filter quite as well, you can easily contaminate the MAF sensor. Many think it's the oil in a K&N filter, and that maybe so, I say it's just poor fit and filtering that does it. Way before it triggers the CEL, it will rob you of power and performance way beyond the .1 HP it gets you out of the box.

Happy Modding....

well it might be b/c people dont put the extra foam/rubber piece that the K&N gives you. (the one you slap on ur airbox)

not really, airfilters are a nice investment. altho i dont think it gives you as much "sound" as the air intake mod that im selling.

but good cotton filters can filter better air. like said by mr. buellwinkle. wont damage ur maf
