C230K Year'05 Valet Key (Trunk)

So... I drive a 2005 C230K that has 11,500 miles on it and Mercedes Benz of Laguna Niguel, CA that is 5 minutes away from my house offers free car washes for its customers. I decided to take advantage of this offer and naturally piled all my belongings into the dash and locked it with my valet key (it worked). I had my laptop with me too so I decided I would lock that in the trunk. When I tried using my valet key to lock my trunk it wouldn't work, the lock wouldnt turn as if I were using the wrong key...

I took my car into get its first service, and I mentioned that the valet key doesn't work when I try to lock the trunk and they say ok, it should be under warranty and that they will fix it.

They come back to me on my service paper with: "Valet Key feature on trunk not available on this year/model."

To me that sounds like a bunch of BS. How does a year 2005 Mercedes Benz not come with valet trunk feature. And if it doesn't come with that feature then why the hell do they have the lock on the trunk as if it does?

Has anyone with a year 2005 had this problem? Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do about this matter or confirm that all 2005 c230k dont come with the valet trunk feature?

it is true. this was discussed in threads back in 2004... I thought the same thing and took my car to the dealer and they said that they'd fix it, but then they informed me that the 2005's don't have a valet key for the trunk.

Sorry to bring up an old topic but does anyone know why this is the only model/year that doesnt have a valet key? Did they put different locks in the trunk then in the dash???

I have 06 C230SS, just tried the keys and it works. Did you try to use that key to open your door manually? Both doors and trunk are should be the same.

there's no question that the key works to open the trunk, but does it LOCK the trunk and keep it locked independent of the doors?

Yeah it worked and it locked because he drives a 2006 model. I have a 2005 model and it seems all 2005 models dont have a lockable trunk via the valet key....

The key fits in the lock, but you can't open or actually lock it without using the remote. The key turns but once you turn it to the locked position, you cannot slide it out. The key is stuck

What's the point of having the keyhole on the trunk then?

lol. man. this sounds so ridiculous. I have no doubt youre telling the truth, but its just one of those things that you have to try out for yourself. It really sounds like a joke.. why would they do this! Ive never tested my valet trunk. Just assumed it would "work"

okay, so I did try it. and my trunk does lock with the valet key. I had a little bit of trouble pulling the key out after I turned it, but i got it out, and the lock works. I have a 05 c230 sedan.

so you saying after you lock it from the outside (if you have the model that allows you to do so)the button on the driver door no longer works? I'm a bit confused.

Ok... assuming you still have your trunk locked via the valet key, hold down the trunk open button either on your remote or on your driver door. Guaranteed the trunk will still open, even though its not supposed to.
