im not really looking to lower my car, do u think that 18s would leave a huge space in the front ? also would it be a good idea 2 do 18inch with low profile tires or just regular ?

bone stock E55 AMG
i first had 17s installed w/o lowering it...
it didn't look good at all... it'll be worse for 18s and 19s...
i ended up getttin' h&r cup kit and then TEIN basic.
to answer ur question, it's not mandatory but highly recommended to lower the car...

The down side to 19's with low profile tires. 18's would give you a little better protection but if you have really bad potholes this could still happen. On the other hand I still run 19's even after this. This happened while I was leaving San Francisco on highway 80 headed east. Bad potholes and I believe even with my stock 17's it would have caused damage. I agree on the lowering, once you lower the profile of the tire, it makes the gap in the wheel well look even larger. Plus Mercedes just like the rest of the manufactors sell the cars with plenty of travel because most Americans are stupid and you never know what they will do with there cars. I would try Tire Rack on a complete set up. They will show up at your door mounted a balanced with the proper lugs ready to install. Great deals and nice people to work with. I have been buying tires and wheels from them since 1987 and never had a problem. Every tire they have recomended has been great.
