2005 C230 Sedan 6spd
I can't imagine police officer try to clear a intersection without siren or warning lights, thats just plain stupid and dangerous. If they offer you a reasonable compensation then I would say just take it and move on, if not and they try to pull some BS on you, I would definitely consider a law suit.
I would be SO DOWN if I ever see my C230 get into an accident, let along a C55 AMG

really glad you're safe and well....not to put a negative in this but...my friend's sister has a IS300 (nicely modded on the looks)....and he was being stupid and crashed it into a tree...tree went right down the middle of his front....radiator was in half....from the look of that first picture...your engine bay pretty much looks like his...i think they ended up having a handful of price quotes from 10,000-15,000 dollars for repairs...but my friend's family has some really really awkward insurance going on (as he tells me)....insurance basically covered all of the damages somehow he told me...but other than that....10,000-15,000 bucks...damages on the IS300's engine bay looks similar to your engine bay damage as well...and I hope all goes well with this...that cop should be taking all fault for being a moron putting lives at danger.

Its not bad. I just wonder if there is damage to the frame. But when they get the car, they body shop can tell you if there is an issue to the frame, cross members, etc.
Did the crank take ANY impact? As in the radiator got pushed into it, etc? The engine can take quite an impact and remain balanced, but you put an impact to the crank and you have trouble. Probably should have told you about that prior to you taking pics.
Did the airbag go off?

Sorry to hear the news, at least no 1 was hurt though.
You need to: Find the best 2 mercedes prefered reccomended repairers (they should be listed somewhere in your books). Take it to either one BUT make sure you tell the insurance company that the other shop will be checking over the job once it is finished. Tell them that if the other shop finds so much as a loose screw when they inspect it then the insurance company will be buying the car from you. Let them know you mean business and you will have no problems, If the repairs are taken care of properlly, your car will be better than new. Most people assume that once cars are hit it's all over, thats only because there are thousands of "sausage factory" smash repairers giving the industry a bad name but only a few prestige shops carrying out quallity repairs. Also most people assume that what ever the insurance company says sticks, the reality is that if you jump up and down enough they will always give in to you as its not worth the headaches for them.
Best of luck with it all, hope this helps.

It'll be around 9k Canadian if ur insurance doesnt cover it, i know this coz my front was once like urs. It's repaired as good as new,but I forgot which shop i went, i'll have to check with my frd for the address. And, be ready to wait for up to 3 months.. ur parts will have to be shipped straight from Germany.
However, as VancouverEuro.com suggested me, Korva is good at paint job, if all u need for the repair is just body work.
And no, Mercedes doenst do ICBC claims.

thanks for the tips. i will be sure to stand firm when i see them next week.
i will be filing a complaint with the Vancouver Police Department as well for reckless endangerment. if i killed someone i wouldnt be able to live with myself and what they did was uncalled for and a misuse of power.
