damn glad ur ok, to be honest, Canada's cops are useless. He probably just wanna run the red light so he can speed himself up on traffic (which happens pretty often even in Toronto). They know how to give speeding tickets and parking tickets in 40-50 KM/H ZONE (ya u can totally kill someone driving in that speed for those who exceed 10km/h huh?), but they can't catch no thieves or find kidnapped kid. Even the police force know their image are pretty bad to canadian citizen. I'd suggest them a few things to improve their image:

1) Go on highway and look for cars that speeding for at least 50-100 km/h, ya it's dangerous, but u getting paid, so do ur job, those are higher risk than speeding 10km/h in 40km/h zone punk
2) when we got accident, don't say " go and report the accident in ur local police station, all of the cops are currently busy". Whereas i see cops gather at Tim Hortons chatting.
3) Got a friend that chat with cops for a bit, the cops even mention themselves have nothing to do, their computer is used for MSN chatting with other cops.
4) Get on your feet and patrol, not give out parking ticket when someone late to get his car in 1 min
5) Don't make a road block starting from 6:30pm Friday night, no one started drinking so early, i know u guys trying to impress the citizen, but do ur work at appropiate time, like 9:00pm - 3:00am where drinkers mostly party and leave from drinking alcohol.
6) Don't let me see you guys at 40 km/h zone, cuz you are very useless.

oh btw my friend's house got shot at with a machine gun to his garage door, cops came and declare it's wrong victim (and of course they can't catch no crap), next 2 weeks same thing happen in the same street, and they DID mention they will try patrolling in the area. There we go, Canada cops...

This is surreal man, it didn't seem that long we were at Starbucks chilling with my dog!

You know man, you're blessed that you're alive and healthy. The C looked like it did its job, i actually think it held up well. With that being said my guess would also be around the $20k+ mark. Burrard Autostrasse is top notch so if it is fixed you'll barely be able to tell. Korva would have been my 2nd choice.

If anything this is a lesson to all of us to be careful out there. It's 100% NOT your fault but that's life.

Although you've got some aches and pains, i'm glad you're doing well. Thanks for calling me today bro. When you're up to it, let's grab a beer.

I didn't have gap coverage back then (didn't think I would need it), and the insurance payoff was less than the amount of the remaining loan.

Which was ok, because the loan also included the value of my previous car...

So you should be able to get your loan paid off by insurance if your car can't be repaired.

Terrence,
Is good that you are okay and I hope everything will work out for you.
There is Mercedes Benz repair shop in Richmond that is owned by Mercedes Benz Canada. It is located near bridgeport road. And they only repair Mercedes and nothing else.
Let me know if u need any help,

Good luck,

Nico

Cops are useless and i am so angry about this whole situation.
they better be honest in their report or i will give them hell.

i went to the doctor already and will be going through the motions. i also spoke to a lawyer and she will be file against the city in a weeks time.

my insurance company requested the police report on monday morning and nothing yet. i decided to call myself to see if i can get the report to speed things up and guess what! the piece of ***** hasnt even submitted the report.

so, i have to put my life on hold till he decides to do so. the insurance company says the turaround for these reports can take up to 4 weeks! all of this b/c he couldnt wait an extra 3 secs for the light to flash green.

as a kicker my car is still in a towing yard with the hood busted up and it's been raining all week to boot. the insurance company is waiting for an open space so they can tow it to their facility for a check before sending it to a shop..

i will keep you guys posted.

Why don't you put in a call to his boss and ask about the report, that might speed things up. VPD is not a large police department. I 'm sure you can find his shift commander by asking a few questions. Don't u think it is odd there isn't a police report filed, do you think it was b/c it involved city property? Do you think there is any hurry for this guy to file the report when at the end of the day it will make him look bad.

Hopefully this has sunk in by now and you're on the phone trying to find out who this guy's boss is. U need to sink this pig b4 he bites you in the ***.

the cops might know the drill and probably more days for him, the more advantage for him on those cops policy stand point. Moosejaw is right, get his boss talking, you don't want urself to be "car-less" for so long, especially it's C55, feel seriously sad even it's not my car, and i feel ur pain.

sigh, cops... i've nothing good to talk about them, cuz they are worthless ****

I think Burrard Autostrasse is one of the third party shop for Mercedes Broadway (I'm not 100%). They also specialize in highend cars as it appear HCL Motorcar sends their car that way.

I work a block away and they always seem to have Porsches, Mercedes, BMWs and a couple of Bentley GTs they're working on. If ICBC pays for it I'd go for broke and send it there.

Pricing for repairs will definately be over $10k as I've just had some work done under warranty but the invoice showed the pricing.

14cue I know how you are feeling, been there myself.

All I can tell you is, that you may be in for one hell of a fight(I hope not). The most likely reason the cop has not filed the report, is that he is probably trying to find som way to blame you(that is what happend in my case).

1. Try to find out if there was a survalance-camera in the copcar, or at the trafficlights(even at a nearby bussiness)

2. Try and find any witnesses.

A cop willing to bend the rules by running a red light is likley to lie a bout the whole thing(he will be facing dissaplinery action and/or prosicution).

Have your lawyer talk to his boss, the officer should not write a report about a case where he himself is involved.

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck, and sue the pants off them, thats how I got my C55

Burrard Autostrasse is an authorized MB bodyshop so my car will still be covered under warranty. as for the cost of damage i am preparing for the worst.

im afraid there arent any cameras but i am giving him the benefit of the doubt he will be honest (even though i shouldnt and i wont be surprised if he ****s me in the end).

my lawyer doesnt seem to be concern with the case. she says it's pretty obvious he is at fault. the only witness i will have is the truck i hit and all he has to say is that he was at a red facing west which he was but you never know with these things.

2005 C Wagon (No snickering please!)
I had my car in the body shop a year ago. It was very frustrating because the insurance company was in no hurry UNLESS I took it to their 'approved' shop. I looked at the approved shop, and went with my first choice. My California car was T-boned while I was in China. The repairs took two months. Cost 12 grand to replace two doors and pull the frame straight. Two weeks were wasted because Customs would not release a Fedex shipment from Gemmersheim (Mercedes German Parts Center).

I hope your insurance company moves faster and at least gives a quick up or down on the repairs.

It really sucks if you don't have a extra car to use while yours is being fixed.

There are a lot of good cops, but this is not one of them. I bet his report will have the light AND pole it is hanging on green for him.

let make this clear
so u are going north at a speed approx 50km/h and all the sudden u saw a cop car on ur left hand side becuz he trying to clear the intersection? to ur automatic response u pull to the rite and hit a truck waiting for green on red head west?
may i ask u a few questions where exactly are you when u notice the cop pull rite at u? middle of the traffic light? and where exactly is the cop car at? are you travel at 50km? 40? 70?
let's just say u rite at the middle of the traffic light why would u pull to the rite at that sharp angle? i dont even want to think someone would run red light when infront of him there is another car travelling adjacent to him. not to mention a cop.
if i were you i would speed up to avoid him instead of pull to the rite where cars are stopped and at his (cop) direction of travelling.
at speed of 40km when u hit the truck? seems to me u travel way faster than 40km at the time of accident by looking at the pictures of ur car.
there is no other cars beside that truck? is there any house around? and did you ask him(trucker) as ur witness? at which street is this maybe i can help u to check if there is any camera around becuz i know quite a few cops around the city.
it seems like the accident around 10k or more u should call a cop to the scene. like many others says.. im glad everyone is fine and if u need my help ill try my best to help you.
cheers,
Drew

Brabus_x2,

thanks for the picture...you almost got it right.
here is what happened.

rainforest,

if i sped up i might have missed him but again, it was a reaction. when i saw a bright silver car headed straight for my side i turned...i didnt stomp on my brakes right away that is why i didnt stop in time before i smacked into the truck. he was at idle going west i actually pushed him a few car lengths back...the accident actually wasnt that bad - maybe it was the inital shock? the car just crumbled - i was told it did it's job to absorb 'most' of the impact...
