my dc power outlet is not working

hi, I have a 2002 230k, like few days before, I tried to use the 400 watt vacuum in my car, I used it with a converter. after I turn on the engine, the cigarette lighter type power outlet is not working. I used my cell phone to test it. I don't know what to do with it. do you guys think I should take my car to some autobody shop? or someone can tell me how to fix it ?
thanks

400watt is waaaay too much to handle... even u use a converter, it pull too much from ur car battery, check ur converter if it support 400watt+ and even it is i think is fooked...

Did you check to see if you blew a fuse?

Should be fuse #47 I believe in the fuse box under the hood next to the brake reservoir. It a blue 15amp fuse.

15amp fuse = 180 watts max. 400W would definitely blow that fuse immediately.

Uh...no. You are incorrect sir.

Basic Electrical Theory-
Ohms law- Watts= Voltage X Current
So, 400/12= 33.3 Amps.
More than twice the capacity of the cig lighter circuit.
Just put in a 40 amp fuse. That should fix it.
Doh!!!

Ok, after considering the consequences, I decided to inform you to definitely not use a 40 amp fuse. Here's an online calc for you.

It's somewhat customary to have a little fun with the newbies here.
So, if you still think it should work, put in a 120A fuse, connect everything you can, and post photo's before and after. Video would be even better.
It's fun to watch stuff blow up.
