Help! Fuel filler door won't open!
And I'm low on gas. I'm at work, the O manual is at home and I forget the exact procedure -- hence I'm posting. I know there's a manual button in the trunk somewhere but I forget exactly where. Prying the passenger side trim away, I can see a long spring looking thing with insulation inside of it but no button. If anyone can save my tail on this, I'd appreciate it!

Thanks guys, I'm glad the image of me sputtering down the street on fumes is a source of amusement for 'ya
It is somewhat funny, though it won't be in 37 miles according to my OBC. My butt is really gonna be in a sling on this one if the emergency measure doesn't work. I'll keep you posted.

Ok, no more gas. I’m down, and the emergency measure isn’t working. Note to MB – do you think you can make removal of the side trim a little bit harder? I would F’ing appreciate it thanks.
I’ve called MB Roadside Assistance and I’m on hold, because they are “experiencing high call volume.” Why am I unsurprised? It’s very cold now, and all I can see are telephone poles and empty road. I’m thirsty, and I have no water. Just a Diet Coke in the trunk, but it’s frozen. Does the First Aid kit have anything I can heat it up with?
Wait, I hear something behind me.....

So, you are saying the gas cover lock never disengaged? I hope that is what you meant. Otherwise, Roadside Assistence will just put his thumb on the cover to open and laugh.

How are you posting right now, from the side of the road? Are you working off a Treo or Crackberry?

Don't worry, Slater is alive and well. I was just kidding around there. It was the filler door's lock rod. It became detached from the actuator, so that's why it wasn't opening and why the emergency measure dematre posted didn't work.
I have to give kudos -- MB Roadside Assistance was fantastic here. The wait on the phone was loooong but the tech from the local dealer called me immediately and was out here in 5 minutes. Took him about 10 minutes to find and fix the problem. Repair cost -- $0.00.
Nice job.
Now I got to go fill her up before my axe murder scenerio comes true...
