debadge and grill change C240k

changed the front grill, use "blackout" tape, cheaper than paint and can remove easily. To debadge use dental floss, put between the car body and the letter and use a sawing action and the letter comes right off, just clean up the glue and it's gone.
picture will show you the results.

Is black out tape a special tape? Where do you get it? Your grill looks great!

Discount Auto has it. think it was $2.50 per roll. It's easy to apply and last a long time. You can overlap to insure no chome shows. I have used it in the past on chrome window trim and you think it was painted. Had my old C70 Volvo coupe grill done and when I sold it, peeled it off and it was back to orginial. I just do like like crome on a car, so the tape helped.

It looks good. Could you post pics of the whole car so we can get a feel for how the look of the grill integrates with the rest of the car?

here is a quickie picture showing the front, cheap digital shot, but it came with the camcorder and it's quick. This sure beats having it painted.

Picture of the back debadge. Think that this car should have it's own badge and not be part of the C230 family, because it is different. Or C230S (sport); C230K just my thought, it does raise questions has to what is it.

Now that looks way cool. I really like the black with the chrome star in the grill. I have an E430 sport and I have been thinking about changing out the grill with one that has a star in the middle. You can get them aftermarket. Then I would black out all but the star like you did. I think it would look good on my obsidian black car. What do you think?

For an investment of $2.50, it's worth a try. When i put it on it's looks as good as paint, you would have to touch it, to see that it's tape. Besides if you want to see what your car would look like black, try the tape and if you do not like take it, take it off and use paint. But for a person that does not like Chome, it work for me.
regards

In looking at your rear mercedes emblem I was reminded of a 92 500SL I once had. I found "black chrome" emblems to replace the chrome on the whole car. I will attach one pic before and then one after in a second post since I don't know how to attach 2 pics to one post. I wish I would have gotten pics of the back with all black chrome. But you can see that the Star in the front has been changed.

Here's the one after the change out with black chrome. I have looked for black chrome emblems since and have not been able to find them. I originally got them from Beverly Hills Motoring accessories. Your rear emblem would look good in black chrome since you don't like chrome.

Personally... I think that a debadged car looks like it had an after-market repair/repaint and they never bought replacement badges to put back on.
