It all comes down to this, my friend. Most everyone here is glad to offer any assistence, words of encouragement and atta-boys to the members of MBWorld. We try and be civil, understandable and coherent. If some newbie comes along, diminishing the shared experience of this forum, they are likely to take some hits, as you have. My advise to you (before you started this thread) would have been to spend some time reading up on the various threads and get to know the style, content and verbage of its members. At that point you could have chosen to gracefully exit or jump in.
Most everyone here is an enthusiast. We love our Mercede for the way they feel, sound, look and go. Those of us with AMG's or non-AMG's love the way they perform, too. You won't find huge numbers of gang-banger, tatoo'ed posers here. There are other forums out there to fill that niche.

I don't like anything on my car, but if I spend $5000.00 on a bunch of Kleeman stuff they send me a Kleeman badge to put on. If I buy a Brabus kit they send me a badge to put on. So If I have a bunch of AMG stuff (brakes, body kit, suspension, exhaust,etc) does that still mean I can't put an AMG badge on?? wasn't AMG originally just an accessory supplier for Mercedes? Just a thought, and no AMG badges are going on my car, and the Kleeman badge is still in my tool box.

I suppose if you put AMG parts all over your car, you could put an AMG badge on to respect the parts... but the badge needs backing...

It's different for a reason, because it's ricer and ugly.
Also, I think jwanee84 is right, someone does need to do a bit more growing up. If you want to compare yourself to the ricers with integras and civics, buy one. Otherwise, owning a benz means you're already above them. A $10 AMG badge won't make you cooler.

Seeing all the 3 series with 'M' badges, I would say there is more abuse in that camp.
I never see fake Audi's with the 'S' or 'RS' badging...yet

AMG owners are protective about the badge because its more than that. The AMG badge is attached at the factory after the hand made engine, the tuned suspension, the wheels and the body kit are installed.

now regarding that "evo" you mention .... putting an AMG badge to a NON amg mercedes ... is to putting an MR badge on a regular EVO 8 ....
dont matter what you drive, it all comes down to opening up to hood and showing people what you DONT have ....

actually putting amg badge on a non amg is like putting an mr badge on a lancer
main difference between an mr and a 8 is not turbo or non turbo
a mr is a faster version
the mr is a scaled down race model, if you were talking two likes, it would be a rs and a 8 not a 8 and an mr

What if a car has AMG styling, and to justify it by having the AMG badge on the left side while Kompressor on the right..It does not make it an AMG car, but AMG styling..which means, alloys and bodykit..If this badge is stuck on a normal standard body, then it will look silly or if you stick a C55 when it definately is not..
Sticking AMG on top of the kompressor is disrespectful and looks tacky..
I take Brabus and Kleemann and Carlson for comparison..We put that badge only if we fit a Brabus kit,alloys or whatever makes it a brabus conversion etc..that would justify it..same with kleemann and carlson..AMG is still a small tuning company with the same formula as with brabus,etc..difference is MERC owns them now..
It also raises the question..why doesn't AMG have any tuning solutions for mercedes engines like what brabus or kleeman and others have..simple solutions like ECU, headers, etc..they have the expertise and will definately have something to compete with kleeman's kbox or brabus box..etc..

that is like getting s4 or rs4 styling and putting a badge on them, or cobra styling or ss styling and putting those badges on
if it doesn't have the motor it doesn't deserve the badges

But this whole thing about AMG owners being better then the rest. The car is still built on a crappy platform. Mercedes will most likely never build a car as solid as like a W124. This car is crap in a lot of ways and putting a bunch of performance parts(hand built engines) on it and slapping an AMG badge on it won't change that. So get over your selves. At least the 500e was assembled by Porsche and was a solid well built performance car. Not like most of these new ones. Ok I'm done!

Nobody said AMG owners are better however there is a difference between an AMG its non-AMG counterpart. If you're trying to offend AMG owners, keep waiting...I'm sure one will speak up. I anxiously dumped my C32 while you're *****ing about your dressed up C230

in many ways i think my s600 is better than the clk55, but u dont see me putting on an AMG badge on the S600, even though. again..some peole do that. its all about advertisement in reality..dont be caught advertising falsly
