does anyone know how to remove the plastic housing in the trunk so i can change the bulb. i've tried prying the plastic of with a screwdriver, but it just won't come off. anyone know how i can get at the bulb? thanks.
I have the same problem...C320. I tried prying it straight off but no luck. What's with the light bulbs on these cars? They are constantly going out. The error code for "replacement bulb" constantly comes and goes as well. A front blinker stopped working and they have to order an
entire assembly to fix it! Here's what somebody told me is in a service bulletin:
Turn signal update/modification to l/f and r/f turn signal bulb socket wiring harness.

well guys i have a 2001 sedan... and on one side of the trunk light, there's a little slot... you have to insert a small flat head screwdriver on each end of that slot... there are two clips that you have to push in... then pull the assembly down... you'll need two small screwdrivers so you can push the clips in at once, and your other hand can pull the assembly down... here are some pics (on one of the pics i'm pointing at one of the tiny clips that have to be pushed... hope all this helps!!!
Does anyone have pictures of this? I've been prying away and I can't get the housing to come out. I have a 2002 C320. I looked at the first six pages of a search run on "trunk light" and this was the only thread that dealt with the actual issue. Thanks for your help.
Here are some pics of the trunk light from my 2003 c230k sedan for those that are are struggling to remove theirs. I resorted to moderate brute force... sucky thing is that there is no voltage at the connector and the bulb is fine. Is there a fuse number for this and where is the actuator for the light?
Mine has been burned out for a number of years. At least now, I see how it comes out. Worst cas scenario, I now have the part number for a new one!
it is just a standard barrel shaped bulb that is easy enough to replace... once you know how to remove it! But my money is on this being a common issue with the bulb being fine but it not getting power.
