Oops, 130 in a C-Klasse (By Accident)
I am not yet used to my new C350 (or MB in general) and it's gonna get me in trouble. I had a monster truck tailgating me today on the way home in the left lane of our semi-high speed toll road (Dulles Greenway, 65 mph). So when I got some open road I whacked it to put some distance between us. It seemed like just a few seconds on the gas but when I looked down I was a hair under 130. Don't know if I was bumping up against the Vmax but I eased off. And this was on a big sweeping right hander but I really couldn't tell I was going over 90. When the truckers finally passed me as I was exiting they gave me a big thumbs up. Last time I did anything like that was 20 years ago and I was in a 5.0L Mustang and it felt like it took ages to get there and I remember white-knuckle-gripping the wheel and praying it would stay on the ground.

I don't know how fast it gets up there, but if you recall my kill story, I mentioned how I loved the fact that I was able to get to 130 very quickly as I was already going about 70...don't remember the exact time but yes it is pretty quick...

Was probably me. I work at Tysons right where Gallows Road and Boone Blvd. come together and get on Rt.7 to the Toll Road heading home. At 5:30 it's a zoo. Of my 1 hour commute, 45 minutes are spent covering the first mile then 15 minutes to cover the last 17 miles. WTF? What were you driving? There's a black C230SS that parks in our garage and it's half the reason I switched to a Sport model! I had to walk past it every day.

It seemed pretty easy to get up there and I was surprised but I'm sure it took longer than I thought. But what was also surprising was how much RPM was left in 7th. I guess they really will go a good bit over that if you fix the ECU. I "eased" off the gas because my experience in the solid rear axle Stang was that at 130 if you snapped off the gas, the weight would shift from the back to the front and the back would get light and start coming around on you if you weren't anything but perfectly straight (and I was cornering). But it really didn't feel like it was prone to that at speed. I doubt the MB spoiler does much either so kudos to MB for the good design!
