CF lip not 100% Carbon Fiber

So after a unfortunate mishap due to a family member borrowing the car, my cf lip has been destroyed. apparently they parked too far forward(they were warned it was low) and the lip got caught on a tiny piece of rebar sticking up from those parking curbs, well the lip got ripped in half and off, but luckily no damage to the car. Anyhow, after lookin at the part, I noticed that its made of regular fiberglass with one layer of Carbon fiber only on the top, the part we see, and maybe 3-4 layers of fiberglass. I was kinda suprised by this, I mean, due to the high price I thought this was 100% carbon fiber. What do all you guys think about this find? I mean, im really disapointed.

Aren't all CF parts just overlaid CF because it's really really hard to bake CF to mold it how you want (McLaren F1 style?)

If the part was 100% CF it would weight 3 times as much and look like crap. Have you ever seen a part that is not overlayed in CF? Its dull, and the weave looks uneven and there are lots of holes in it. Also, you can clearly see the lip is fiberglass when you are holding it in your hands. Its no secret, its a better way to do it actually. This way cost more then doign it in all carbon fiber. Each lip takes about 8 hours to make BY HAND! If its made from a mold with only carbon fiber its much easier. Point being, if you want it to look good overlay is the way to go. 99.9% of carbon fiber is overlayed in something, what else do you lay CF on?

Well Rob let's comiserate our CF lips being destroyed. Is there any way to repair it or do u need a new one?

I think Euroteck should start a "Save the CF Lip Fund" It may appear we need another GP.

On another note U wanna do Tower Shops this fri. I believe it's MB club (Old Skool Society) We could show off our blistered CF lips

hmm...most "CF" automotive things are fiberglass with overlay CF. even the "100% CF hoods" they are fiberglass and CF overlay.
