you will need to run a relay off of the original lighting circuit to the hid's. this should work just fine without changing your setings and without any alteration to the interior switch.

SOOOO....

If I do this...

I would always have the error msg on display because the computer would never find any headlights, right?

Quite a number of people have this flickering problem when they installed aftermarket HID, changing your computer setting to "xenon" present should fix it. Good luck

it definitely turns off if the hids settings haven't been changed. but i do remember that brabusclass, i think, had the problem even after it was changed. i don't think it was ever resolved and he did something else.

i say don't panic and have the setting changed, and see if that works (as it should).

coupes seem to work fine when the computer is set to xenon present.

its the sedans that throw the error.

my hid kit works fine with the changed settings.. (philips kit)

Some people just worked fine by switching settings. Kineda used resistors and his works fine. Mine was just done strait to the switch. Im sure it will be ok.

Hey when did they get all these new smiles? Hmm.

Thumbs up I just installed mine too!

Make sure turn on the lights WITHOUT keys in, wait like 10-15 seconds, then start the engine. This way works fine for me. The only complaints that I have is that the lights was yellowish in the beginning, but it is better now. I have 6000k.

Hei,

I had the same problem too if you look at my previous post. Installed the aftermarket HID, they will only flicker when you turn it on. Im scared to death now everytime I drive cause I dont know if they will just shut off automatically. As I've heard from people, all you need to do is reset the check engine to 'xenon present', which I havent had a chance to do. But I will give that a shot. My symptoms is i have to turn on the light before i turn on the engine, so that's kinda bugging. I want to be able to work it as normal, so I'd definitely post the after results when the dealer reset the check engine. Do you know if this is a non charge service from Mercedes??

Thanks!

UPDATE ON MY HID's

Ok MB of ft.lauderdale suxks ***.. would nto even touch the computer....

so I drove up to Autohaus in Pompano, and they helped me out....

after I came back to pick up my car and I paid I checked the lights and guess what, "not working" ****.. so they took it back to the shop and they told me they tried everythign btu could not get them working, the settings are on Xenon but they still only blink just for a little longer.

They told me that it is because the lights use too much energy, and the computer sends a signal to turn it off.. So well Im stuck without lights and cant drive at night, Im pretty pissed off and dont knopw what else I can try. I dont want to wire it like BrabusCclass directly to the switch.

What did Kineda do?

any suggestions?

IU might try to get $350 on ebay and get the HID4less ones..

Your Stealership is BS'ing you big time. The Xenons only use 35watts of power, where the halogens use 55watts. The Xenons will also burn cooler than halogens too.

I still think there is a way to use a certain ohm resister to cut the 55watts of power coming from the computer, to the 35 watts required for the xenons. Thus still letting the computer send 55 watts, and not setting off an alarm, and allowing the xenons to get there 35 watts. Any electronic people know what value we would need to put in series?

ok do what i said,
also measure the resistance of a stock light bulb, you will need to show this same resistance with a resistor across the wires b4 the relay and you will not have an error message.

How did the shop wire the HIDs?

I actually had to cut my stock wires..... and it works fine
Some people used these spade things to plug the HID ballast into the sockets of the halogen bulb.

yea thats right. when you turn on your lights after the engine is running, they demand power and the computer will automatically shut it off. this is the same problem that you will get if you installed the bi-xenons. you will need to take it to the dealer and have them reset your computer to have xenons on. usually with the bi-xenons we have to kinda bribe one of the technicians workin at the dealership cuz MB doesnt want people changing their headlamps from the normal ones to bi-xenon.

CarlssonRs...

Thanks for your reply. One more thing, for Xenon reset , does the Dealer usually charge you ? or that's something you can negotiate? And also one thing, is it safe if I just turn the light on everytime before I turn on the engine?

Which Dealer would you recommend for me to go? How about santa monica w. simonson or bhills?

clotzki - the dealer wont do it for you. the way we do it is have a technician who works there do it for us. this install usually cost about $150 (more of a bribe that labor).. pretty much he will reset your system to have xenons on.... we have a guy who will do it for us at Downtown LA motors....

I think it would.
You might want to check with your dealer first. You can call without giving your name if you don't want them to know its you.

warranty of what???.....for anything related to the headlight system - yes. Because you'll be changing the wiring and harness. And I am 100% sure that your dealer will say "Yes" because no dealers would recommend any MB owners to put any aftermarket stuff on his car. If you want to put aftermarket HID, be prepared to take the risk.
