I'm looking for an original Bi-Xenon set for the COUPE, and don't know who else might sell these at a good price. The ones on eBay are usually chipped as well, and sometimes do not come with all the right plugs and things.

Remember, Bi-Xenon headlamps are different sizes for the Sedan & Coupe.

Back on topic: You want aftermarket HID application, but you want those covers on there to keep the moisture out. But of course you still need to run the wires. Solution? There is an HID accessory that is a rubber grommet with a slit in the middle to allow you to run wires while maintaining the seal on the headlight. This will require drilling a hole into the back cover to install this grommet.

Aftermarket HID Xenon Kit problem

After I installed the aftermarket HID Xenon Kit, it looks great, but I always get a warning message on the cluster instrument, "Check low beam R lamp". My friend W202 has the same problem. Is it normal or do I need to go to the dealer to reprogram the ECU to "xenon present"? Please advice. Thanks

Yep, take it to the dealer. It's all computer controlled now and they'll be able to tell what's wrong....

He did say aftermarket kit. There could be more than meets the eye here. Especially if his message as posted is true; R only.

As Mr. amdeutsch indicated, --and it is VERY likely--, there may be more than it meets the eye then just setting your system to Xenons "present. A similar problem did occur on someone else's car when they installed their "aftermarket" HID foglights... same scenario that you got in your display... please read below:

I noticed if I turn the fog lights on before I turn the ignition on no errors come up but really want it to work the proper way
If what I am about to say it is true/accurate in whole or in part, you may be passed the "want it to work the proper way" part of your quote above.

If you have cut the wires on the fog lights to tap into the starters, ballast, etc, etc... then you may very well be stuck with the error for good.

On the "HID headlights" you mentioned, I am assuming it is NOT the MB "Bi-Xenon" headlamp assembly but instead another aftermarket HID brand. Depending on the type of installation used on your headlamps, you may encounter errors on the headlamps as well (after driving long periods ot time due to the overheating of the wiring associated with the headlamps)

Your problem "could" be fixed, but it could be costly, as you may have to re-run wiring harnessed to correct the problem

Note: Xenon is a registered mark of High Intensity Discharge (HID) lights, currently licensed and used by some German manufacturer brands.

Wiedermann
You (Mr. antonleung) may be able to correct the problem if it turns our that your "aftermarket" installation was done cutting the wires (which a NO! on MB!!) but it will cost ya!

if the xenon present does not solve this problem. you can get inline resistors which will bump the resitance of the lights to that of the stock halogens... good luck

Which one did you purchase? My friends installed aftermarket with Hella ballast and worked fine, but another one tried Panasonic and got error messages.

My HID is Japanese product, but my friend is using Hella kit, he got the same problem too. My HID didn't flicker or shut down, but it just display warning message all the time. I don't have to cut any wire during installation, it is plug and play. Does any one can get the aftermarket HID works without reprogram the ECU to xenon?

Some people have provided solutions/design changes: relays, resistors, etc. One of them even in this thread you started. STF
