i dunno wat brand of HID it is, because i took it off from my bro's celica h7. All i did is took off the metal clip and plug and play without setting it to xenon present, Works pretty good too. But i think im going to get Bi-xenon later because they're just sexy

These cars are really smart, I have HIDS on both my headlights and foglights and got some errors the first week but havent seen any in the past 2 days, regardless I will stop by the dealer and set xenon to present because I can only benefit from that. I think it has more to do with the car than the kit itself some are just pickier.

Pictures are gone

Just wanted some ideas on where to mount the ballast. I already know how to install the kit. (BTW, kit consists of OEM Philips ballasts and bulbs)

It should just plug and play, different HID kit brand has different wiring(they should suppy u with instructions). It should just plug and play, wat matter is finding ballast position and resetting the computer, good luck.

How can you make such a statement without knowing what is or isn't included? Or even what kind of car it is being installed on.

I've purchase two different HID kit and they wiring is different, it's an H4 but not H7, first kit is damn easy to install with the help of my friend, second one is a bit complicated. It's for a Honda btw, but i don't see much different from a benz except for the computer part or does it?? Well, that's y i got a Bix for my C class, just plug and play

You can go either with an aftermarket kit or OEM (which im sure most will recommend).

OEM would then either mean the highly popular Bixenon's which are the updated look and you can get them through Steve aka MBENZNL or visit http://mbenznl.com/ or get the factory installed xenon headlamps prior to the bixenon model.

I have the factory installed xenon headlights and would want to upgrade hopefully sometime in the future to the bixenons but that also means upgrading the turn signal lenses on the side mirrors as well as the fog light lenses. Not a MUST but doing so will surely complete the upgraded look.

Now if you just want to get the HID's more as an enhancement especially during night time driving and want to stick to what you already have and have HID's for half the cost of the bixenon upgrade then maybe I can sell you my factory xenons

well you got to remove the bumper..its usually plug and play.. but when you install the bixenon you need the dealer to update your computer from normal headlights to xenon present..

bixenons are hard to find for the coupe.

if steve has them then you can get them,
but the HID kit is easy to install also. Just cut the wires and plug it up.

and change the computer setting at the dealer and your done.

but don't you have to make some kind of hole in the big black jar looking covers to run the wires into the headlights for the HID bulb?

I did a search online about installing HID conversions. I want to convert my W202 C230 to HIDs. I found this site that talks about a guy with a BMW converting his lights. I thought it was helpful and hope you will too. I am going to assume the setup is similar on our benzs.

waveycat,

yes.. pop them off and drill holes in them.... U can buy rubber grommet plugs to fill in the gap if you want to make it "sealed"

there are plenty of HID conversion kits out there (they are getting cheaper too), but isn't there a heat related problem with the stock (non-xenon) housing?

There is no heat issue really... they dont get hot like the halogens

But if you dont get a good seal when putting a hole in the plastic part water can condense in there during raining days.. not a big deal IMO tho.

so basically on my 2002 coupe....
**** go to dealer and get car programed for HIDS ********
1. Pop off the plasic cover for the head light
2. drill hole in there....gotta fit wire that connects teh bulb through the ballast.
3. remove H7 halogen bulb and the thing that holds it. Cut the wires (2 wires)
4. Wire up the ballest with the 2 wires that you just cut.
5. Attach the ballast somewhere, I used velcro .... but u can use anything you want
6. Plug the bulb into the ballast.
7. secure the bulb into the the headlight assembly

your done....
