rob, even with it set to xenon-present? I guess that only applies to the low beam huh?

I had the same problem as you, sometimes my right beam won't light up and I get the "check right headlight" error message. Eventually, my right beam doesn't light up at all anymore, I e-mailed Carlabs and Darwin was very helpful. I mail entire right headlight (including the kit) back and he send me some new replacement parts to use and ever since then no problems.

I have the V2 kit

I paid the returned shipping cost too (Included a check for $10) when I send my kit to Carlabs, my kit was replaced under warranty since I had it for less than a year.

Man i hate to sound funny, but i so dont have ANY problems with my MTEC kit, i mean none, no msg, no flicker. Not saying that it cant happen, but i think for the extra few bucks, it will save so much stress in the long run.

Not saying anything is wrong with Carlab, But this isnt the first time HID problems have came to our attention.

Just say, if your wanting a trouble free HID kit, MTEC makes a nice one for our cars.

Ask Cloudz.

Again just my .02

The Carlab kits need to have the xenon=present option turned on. You can get away with it short term but it's not as sophisticated as the kits from these guys - http://stores.ebay.com/HID-Outdoor-Equipments

just to let you all know I have xenon set to present... and still got the errors when i was turning on the lights before/during startup... the only way to 100% prevent it by trial and error was to wait until the car warms up. i think this is regardless of the xenon present setting IMO.

unless it's just draining the battery to it's death. otherwise i really dont think any of the kit can stop the car from running.. or did it caught on fire and burn the car down?

Buellwinkle, I think that was for the older kits...I know the source of the kits CarLab offers and they are much better (and smaller ballasts) than previous ones. From the looks of it, these ebay ones look very similar.

I was looking to buy a mtec hid kit for use with depot projector headlamp kit. Is it a known issue that hid kits are not to be used with depot headlamps? Can anyone who has this combo please confirm??

Question

What do you guys think of these HID conversion kits from coolbulbs.com? They can be pricey with H7s starting at $330.95 for 6500K or 8300K and up to $495.95 for their premium 8300K kit with German ballasts and Japanese bulbs. I'm just getting into HIDs so any suggestions would be cool. They also have a pretty informative FAQ list here.

does anyone know that if i put my halogens back and take out the HID kit if it will function properly now that i have xenon set to present... do i have to set it back?

my right headlight stop functioning for good... i thought i had it figured out... crap! i might just say screw the whole thing and order bixenons instead of suspension...

Question

Has anyone had experience with the kits from coolbulbs.com or do you recommend the cheap kit from this thread?

Sorry for asking.. I know this thread was a long time ago but I have a question. In the picture above, are you using a frosted or clear OEM headlamps? I used HID in my forsted and the cut off lines looks great. When I updated to clear OEM, it's horrible. Even the left and the right doesn't have the same beam pattern. Anyone can help me with this???

ok so i have installed oem bixenons and have no more use for my xenon kit anymore (only used for 3-4 months!). i was trying to sell it but no one was biting...

what i am thinking is to switch bulbs because the stock bixenon bulbs are yellow and my kit for carlabs are blueish (6000k). is this possible?

it didn't seem intuitive when i looked at them side by side. has any one tried this?

Ok so i got the carlab HID kit on my 07 c230 a couple months ago and its flickering and getting the error message, i called my dealer (Beshoff in san jose,ca) so i have an appointment on tuesday to take it in. i was wondering what i can tell them about the whole xenon=present cause they always tell me they dont know anything about it.
