2005 C230 buy back email from Dealer
Hi,
I received an email from my dealer. I was just wondering how true this is or is it just a way for a dealer to get you in and try to sell you a new vehicle.
Thanks.
THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING YOUR CURRENT VEHICLE.
Keyes Mercedes is proud to announce a unique vehicle exchange and financing event, allowing you above market value for your current vehicle. As a loyal customer of Keyes Mercedes, you have been invited to participate in this unique event in which you have been pre-qualified to receive the benefits of this incredible private vehicle buy-back offer.
Our records show that you currently own a 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class . Before you make your next purchase payment, please give us the opportunity to buy back your current vehicle for above its Kelly Blue Book value. If your vehicle is paid off, put the extra cash in your pocket or apply it toward the purchase or lease of any new Mercedes-Benz vehicle. We will buy your current vehicle even if you don't buy another one from us.
As a token of our appreciation for buying from Keyes Mercedes, I, Jim Sarvey have authorized my entire sales staff to save you thousands!
There is tremendous demand for your Mercedes-Benz C-Class right now, and we would like to give you the chance to step up into any new 2006/2007 Mercedes Benz vehicle by exchanging your current vehicle with us. And here's the best news of all: on top of our low prices and the above market value trade-in policy, you'll also get Mercedes-Benz current incentives.

Sell it back, get a 2007 C-Class, or another car altogether.
You car value decrease by lots every time you turn it on. At the moment, you have the best offer (or so they say). Go in and find out what the payment differences would be if you were to get into a new 2007 (which they are pushing out of their lots), with the same options as yours.

Unless you want to get raped, keep your car for a few years at least.
In the 1st year I had mine, the Infinity Coupe came out.
Nice car. I drove one...and asked, how much?
Well, they came back and said I'd get 18K trade in on a car I paid in excess of
30 grand. No thanks. Maybe you'll get above blue book, but it'll still be dismal.
5 years later, my car is still work 12K-14K or so.
I'm planning on keeping it. After all it's PAID for. Right now, no money to buy anything near as nice. And I've kept it up to perfection.
Been focusing on bringing it back to as new condition as possible,
cleaning, scrubbing, conditioning, maintenance up to date, wax on, wax off.
New rear bumper getting painted this week..

It's a gimmick to get you buy new.

My friend's Toyota dealership is always trying to get him to trade in his 2001 4Runner for a new one. Honda dealerships are also trying this new gimmick.
I wouldn't do it.

2005 C Wagon (No snickering please!)
During slow times salesmen have to make a certain number of appointments by contacting existing customers. If there are no "ups" walking toward the door, the assistant manager makes the salesman send out these carefully scripted Emails. After the used car manager gives his price to the salesman, he usually offers you about a grand less than that to pack the front end of a car he wants to sell you. Truth is he can get all the used cars he wants, this is just a creative presentation that appeals to your greed and desire to get something other people are not getting.
If you want a new car, find out the invoice price, then take off 5% plus dealer incentives (trunk money) if any and submit your offer to the sales manager. Bypass the salesman, and you will do much better.
Sell your car yourself. You will almost always do better than what the dealer will pay. The main exception is rare/desireable cars that the dealer already has fish on the line to buy.
