I've been thinking about this since I got my car, just haven't had the money to do it and couldn't figure out the best way to go about it as far as what our car needs and what would work with the car (there are advanced kits that are triggered from the MAF & pressure sensor instead of the pressure sensor alone). But Yes, it can be done. It wont make much more HP when the IC is within its limits, but when you're pushing the car and the IC is overwhelmed, it will keep you from loosing power.

If you install a methanol injection kit, you can play with the water/methanol ratio and they can actually use it to help them with their lean issues. I forget exactly how to do it, but when I was making the "juice" for the methanol for the cobra it says what creates a lean mixture and what creates a richer mixture. What do you think...
That's a bit beyond me. I have zip zero nada experience with Methanol.

I didn't know that the M271 had a lean problem. The M111 has a minor one at WOT. I don't know of anyone actually encountering detonation though. A standard alcohol water kit would help with the temps, certainly.

Hi guys! I’ve been browsing for a while but haven’t actually joined. I just can’t resist asking for a sound clip. And, do you already have the Google video? I’m up for a Flowmaster Mercedes Benz Muffler installation. I want to know how well the sound that I should expect. Anyways, I’m not rushing it. But, I hope I could get the info before the end of the month. Thanks!

well, in my clips i have hosted, you cant really get to hear it well, but you get an idea. it sounds a bit "whispery" whne you're just accelerating nice and easy, but gets a nice euro tone to it when you mash on a throttle. in my pics, i simply had the muffler, and only the muffler chopped off at the very tip, then had a flowmaster series 40 welded in place. thats simply an Ractive black chrome oval slash cut exhaust tip installed in there. it looks really nice and the whole thing, parts and all, cost a *****load less than a MB cat-back system. i left the resonator and the cat intact.

To help you, we need more info.

What year car. If it is the 2002, let me assure you, it is easy.

Loosen and pull back the intake filter.

Undo the hex bolts that mounted the resonator to the upper S/C manifold.

Unplug the wire harness to the actuator valve (it is by the intake filter)

Unscrew the actuator coupling.

Take off the two hoses. One at the valve cover to resonator, and one at the rear from the cranckase breather/return to the backside of the resonator.

Pull up

This is all from memory, but you can have that black piece off in about 20 minutes if you stop to drink while you do it.

See, it was a complete waste of time to type that up.

Create a profile for yourself so we know what kind of a car you have, what year etc., and then someone with the M271 engine can help you out.

I have the M111 engine, and its different.

Absolutely nothing...it likely doesn't even have one. The airbox should be enough to squelch the not so throaty sound of the 2.6L V6.
