Um, yea. At $700, I would say they recouped some of the free door repairs.

What environmental fees??? Do they charge for disposing of platinum parts???
Those little things are so expensive only because of platinum in them. This is not so kind of old AC refrigerant

There is a new episode...

Recently the alternator died... and I accidentally put the gear in N and hit the tow truck and went to body shop when they found new corrosion... MB goodwilled the corrosion job again and this time both front and rear fenders are replaced, all four doors repainted. Body shop guy said other than the hood and roof the whole car body is redone and like new...

Of course I have to pay for my own mistake to realign the rear and repalce the alternator... $4K

To those of you worrying about rust, it's only an issue on model years before 2003 (for the W203 that is).

(from benzworld)

C CLASS -203 series- saloon and estates: -

All steel panels were galvanised from Quarter 2 2003 production onwards.
During the previous six months (Q4 2002 + Q1 2003) the process was
gradually introduced on the production line and therefore some vehicles
were galvanised during this lead-up period, but not all.
