Question COMAND on W203

I'm trying to get information about installing COMAND 2.0 on my Coupe. Richard (thanks again!) already gave me a lot of it but since he's on the UK he is not really sure if all the C-230 are equipped with the wiring and GPS antenna needed. Is anyone here familiar with COMAND 2.0 and it's installation? Is it worth the money (I can get one for about $1,400)? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks !!

Installed

I have installed teh COmand on a C coupe and it's not too much trouble at all. You can email me at drsunilpatel@hotmail.com if you have questions. I got one for 1200 dollars of the german ebay. It's really tricky talking to germans. They don't understand English most of the time. You will have to get an additional GPS antenna also. If your car has the Teleaid system, it has a GPS antenna already. IT's too difficult to install the Comand with the stock antenna so just add another one. You have to get a special connector mounted one though. Email me and I can get you a website for it. The only thing you have to do is move 2 wires to a different connector so the CANBUS system can work correctly. If you have a changer also then you will have to do a bit more also. That's about it. The intergration is pretty easy.

I don't understand why the existing GPS antenna cannot be easily split...I heard its jsut a coxial connection right ? a splitter should be easy to find (or am I way off base here ??)

The W203 is one of the easiest MB models to add a Command system to; especially when you get a 203 numbered Command system.

I bought several Command headunits recently but haven't tested them yet so I don't know whether they are all in mint condition or not.

greetingz,
Are you saying there's no need to add another antenna? Do you have instructions on how to go about doing this because I'm thinking about buying a command unit myself. Thanks.

I was thinking about it too....I've heard its easier to get another antenna - I can't believe we can't just use the existing...split if necessary...I don't want another antenna.

any clue ???

You can use an OEM MB splitter but that means that you have to run a GPS antennacable to the rear and therefore take apart some bits of the car.
Mercedes recommends in their own WIS program to stick a separate GPS anetnna under the dash (between the dashcluster and the ventilation opening of the upper dash) to connect to the comand unit....faster and easier.

greetingz,
