THE C350
It could have one for the teleaid system if it has it but either way just install a new one. Also you do know you will have to do some serious rewiring to deal with the bose system right?

I bought everything from Crutchfield. Supposedly they sent me all the adapters and connectors for a Bose system. I sure hope so.

Did you get the $50 ASWC adapter so you can use the steering wheel volume controls? I'm debating on doing this step. Not so sure it's worth it as I never use the steering wheel for radio controls.

I got the one from Crux, the SWRBM-57c. This one has the connectors in it for connecting to the existing wiring for all the audio including steering wheel control. My wife does use the steering wheel controls so this seem the best choice. I plan on doing this sometime this weekend. I'll let you know how that one works out.

^please do!

I thought I was happy with my deal from crutchfield. $219 for two day shipping for the pioneer avh1500dvd with iPhone interface, install kit, and wiring harness.

Well, I spent a good part of the day in the phone with Cruthfield once I had the radio out. For the past few days the last comment by Samaritrey has been sticking in my mind. Three techs later he tells me that Crutchfield has nothing that will work with the car. As Samaritrey said it’s the digital Bose. So Stuka, if you have a Bose amp in there I’m afraid you may be in for some bad news. I’m sending everything back.

Is there an easy means to determine this? Or do I have to pull the panelling from the trunk and find the amp?

This is the same unit in my c280, am I screwed?

I'm not too worried. Ill make crutchfield swallow the restocking and shipping back, I'm good like that.

This is not the unit I have. I don't know of any way to look at the radio to tell but I knew I had a bose amp in the car. I don't know why I remember that but I do. As soon as I pulled the radio I saw the optical connector and knew I had a problem.

As far as returning the stuff back to Crutchfield, that's not a problem. The emailed me a return UPS label.

Just took a look in my trunk, pass side behind the rear tire, no amp there. From what the web says I should see an amp there. Also, no Bose emblems on rear speaker decks.

I found a source for w211 command systems which appear to be the same as w203 command for $167. Only problem is that they have their DVD drive in the trunk.

Sorry it didn't work out man. The rewire is a pain but not the end of the world you can run wires from the HU back to the trunk where the Bose amp is but you should also replace all the speakers for best results. I saw the other day 2 or 3 w203 nav units on ebay it will get you a hardwired aux in port.

You would have a Harman Kardon system but you would have noticed the emblem on the rear deck if you had the system. I belive the Bose system (01-04) was more common than the Harman Kardon (05-07) as it was standard on the c320 and not a very expensive option from what I have seen vs the Harman Kardon system that was very expensive and an option on the newer cars except for maybe the c55.

I don't believe the w211 system will work in the w203 I would research that some more but if it does good price.

2006 C230 SS
These are the wires I used from my factory Harmon Kardon amp to hi/low convertors on my 2006 C230 SS:

Orange is Front Right, Green is Front Left, and Purple is Low Frequency. Since the factory amp ground is brown, the brown-stripe wires are negative leads.

Worked like a charm, but it's I've only touched the one so I can't say for sure yours will be the same.

1994 C220; 2007 C280 4MATIC
Late-comer, questions.

I see I am years late to the original party here, and a year past last post. Sorry about that.

I have a 2007 C280. All I want is to have AUX functionality. I have read *hundreds* of posts in dozens of threads. It seems that my car does *not* have the white harness plug in the passenger footwell to easily connect with an available factor aux harness.

I believe my option is to pull the head unit, and wire it into the back, as discussed in other threads.

However: I cannot see any of the pictures posted in the original (1st-3rd) comments on this thread. There is some sort of photo-bucket message instead. Anyone else have pictures that depict removing the head unit?

Thanks
