One thing to pay attention about is to make sure that you're not turning the light on and off repetitively. Keep in mind, lights don't like to be turned on and off.
Think of it this way; HID lights (bi xenons are HIDs) are like flourescent lights and halogens are similiar to incandescent lights.
Flourescent lights take a lot of energy to start up and you shouldn't turn them on and off repetitively.
Incandescent lights don't require large amounts of energy to start up and you still shouldn't turn them on and off repetitively but it doesn't damage an incandescent bulb as much as a flourescent bulb if you do.

furthermore, your explaination works primarily with the bulb itself. we're talking about the igniter.

You'd be surprised, but not everyone knows about it. I've known intelligent electrical engineers who didn't know because they never thought about it.

BIX Igniter replacement / disassembly DIY Guide
In case any of you need to take apart your BIX to replace a damaged igniter or to color match the headlight.
First start by removing the headlight(s) from the vehicle. DIY guide for this can be found here.

gotta keep up Drex.... the newbies will roll right over you!
funny to see this forum (W203 in particular) keep rolling over and over with the same type of thinking and innovation we saw 3-4 years ago.
now, if the recent noobs would just learn how to search

Add my name to the flickering headlight club. Driving tonight, passenger side started to flicker. Still under warranty so I guess it is off to the dealership. Are the ignitors still the problem with '05 C55's?

Bi-xenon problem!!!
Hello,
I have a problem with my rigth Bix, I got an erron on the IC to check the lamp, but some times it pos up and I have ligth, and others dont! also some times it takes a bit to turn ON!
I think its not the D2S lamp, so, I'm supossing that its a ballast problem.
And here is my question, where do I get one and not from the dealer!? I'm checking ebay, and I see somes, but nothing for the w203!
Part # A203 820 25 26 I need, but no clue if other one will fit!!
Can any one help me please?

WELL, I have a completely working ballast from a right side OEM bixenon? I'll sell you the whole unit if you want to take it apart yourself.

At least if you could check the ballast model to see if its the same as mine I would consider to buy it if you want to sell it

Someone had a headlight DIY opening guide, hopefully there's a picture of the ballast, if it's the same there, should be the same in mine. I'd sell it to you for the ballast anyway though .

It looks like that my problem is not at the ballast, its from the burner, bad connection...
It was a problem with coupe and CLK Hella Bix headlamps produced till 05/05/2003 and 28/04/2003.
MB have a repair kit and its a 1h work, and a lot cheaper than tha ballast!
I have the WIS info (AF82.10-P-6004C) and I will order the kit, I don't know if I do it my self or go to the dealer or other tech...

I had the exact same problem (R side too). Replaced ballast, no fix. Ripped apart the light and switched the ignitor, also no fix. Steve MBenzNL sent me the repair kit for free under his warranty (great service, will buy from him again ), you lop the wires off the old ignitor and stick on a new one that fits onto the back of the bulb, then join the wires to the old connector. The whole thing can be done by reaching into the bulb hole at the back.
Try switching ballasts between L and R. If that doesn't solve your problem, order the new igniter from Steve or a dealer.
