Advice for Photoshoot

I have seen some awesome C class photos placed on this site. I just purchased a Canon 30D with the 28-135 IS lens.

I also have a black car so any tips on how to get the best results would be cool.

I hate to sound like an a$$hole, but with a camera of that caliber, shouldn't you know what to do?

It's not always the camera - some of my pictures aren't even SLR pics. Steady hands, creativity, and mild photoshop FTW.

Just trying to grow into the camera without having to re-buy. The price is about the same as an entry level one now. Maybe I should know more but just starting to learn so was looking for some tips. I guess its like there are alot of people out there with some high performance vehicles but that does not mean that they have to know how to drive before they can buy one. If you all feel the same way, I will delete the post.

I've refered many people to that link but here's some pro tips in general. 1) fil the frame, the reason you like that sig pic is because the subject fills the frame, 2) follow the rule of 3rd, that means don't center your subject, we call this disease Centiritis. Many cameras of you caliber come with a tic tac toe grid that helps in this area, 3) lastly is light color, waiting for the right time of day, either early or later in the day casts a nice color glow.

LOL! Just for that...

And I have many more where those came from!

The second picture is still a work in progress, have to play with the sky some more... It was hard to get the polarizing filter to line up when your driving with your camera out the window (even with live view!)

PS: Shot on an Olympus Evolt E-330 (except the last shot). Having the live view screen that tilts out really allows you to get some shots that are really hard with only a viewfinder. The last shot was taken with a Nikon F2. I developed the b&w film myself and scanned it into the computer to digitally edit it, then printed it as a negative on a transparency and did a contact print on real photographic paper. I was really amazed by the results of that little experiment!
