Here's my other project coming into fruition
Here's another teaser shot for ya'll - I know a few of you that have been wanting to know "when is it gonna be finished?!?!?!" ... well it is, I'm awaiting it's return from San Diego post-CF wrap (Leonard knows what he's doing - TY!). If we're lucky, I should be able to see it either Sat or Sunday.
What is it? Completely custom fabbed intake scoop for M271s only...and yes, I've tested it for 1:1 fitment, street drives, freeway drives, sound, ease of bolt-on, etc. I maxed out the edges to come within a few mms of tolerance with anything rubbing or hitting against it (hence its shape), but as you'll soon see the form comes with the function. I'll write a more in-depth review of it once its in my hands again. Yeah, I've been a pretty busy silent modder =).

Bondo FTMFW... Update.
As per hippo's suggestion - I picked up some Bondo to do a final fill pre-paintjob. As a bondo-noob I followed some pro-tips on % hardener to mix with the bondo (basically, a really small amount) to have enough time to work it into all the dips and bumps I want sanded down.
I made the edges in the most interesting way...using basic scotch tape! I basically laid 2 strips vertical on both the left and right edge of the frame and basically pushed the bondo onto the tape from the backside, filling in the surface for a straight-edge. Then, it was just a minor sand job to give a tight radius.
I also took into account suggestions of having the unit be "more flush" with the edges of the OEM style frame so I chiseled the backside of the piece in a step pattern to bring the face out (and it rests on the body of the headunit, instead of anywhere on the swiveling face).
It's turning out nearly exactly as I've envisioned so far - I will most likely epoxy this frame on the back of a spare aluminum stock trim (piano/matte black is looking like a good option at this point). I hope I've got time today to finish it up (I've only gone as high as 300 grit sanding for now), but here's how she looks at her current state:
Either I'm crazy or I just love the DIY - but I have to say, lots of ingenuity and creativity go into custom stuff! More later.

Lol.. I'll give this thing like an hour and a half a day. I know EXACTLY what you mean, ya'll complain about freeway traffic!? I have stoplights and crosswalks to deal with, not to mention pedestrians! I'm telling you, the 5 minutes is excruciating to live through everday...I actually have to fill up every 5-6 weeks!
