Hey guys,
I have an '05 C230k Sedan. I'm looking to buy a fuel and air filter. How do i know which one to buy for the fuel filter. Do I have the Bosch or the Knecht in my car? Is there an easier way to find out instead of going under the car. What about the air filter, does it matter if I get the Hengst or Mahle? I plan on buying the parts from autopartswarehouse.com Pretty good prices from what i can tell. I searched the forum but couldnt find much info. Thanks.

You should be fine with any of those.
I used the Bosch fuel filter as it was about 30-40 bucks
vs. like 150 from Mercedes?
Bosch designed half the stuff in the car,
and practically invented electronic FI so
I felt that it should be fine.
Just go with which has the best price.
Air filters, i just run stock ones from MBZ.

if you want some air filters, i will sell you some for cheap.. they are used... they were installed by the dealer when i got my service B done 3k miles ago. im going on a limb here.. but im guessing they probably run 30-40 bucks a piece. the reason they were replaced is b/c i put in new KN filters. if you are interested in saving some money, PM me or email me.
Thanks

Charles, glad to hear you got the K&N filters.
I was beginning to worry, because I didn't hear back from you that you had got them.
Cool

I doubt it would be worth it to anyone to buy a used filter.
For the M111 they're less than 20 bucks, I think about 15.
I would save it, and sell the K&N when you sell the car, also put it back when you take the car for service.
And to coconutpolito, the brands of filters you mention all meet or exceed OEM standards.

ExploreFYI- the oil filter I got from MBZ in the MBZ box was Hengst.
7.87 from Duval.
Oil from Kragens, onsale for 3.50 a quart, +
a 2.50 a quart rebate, so $1. a quart for Valvoline
10w-30 synth.
10w-30 isn't in this oil isn't specifically approved for my vehicle, though
some 10-30 is, and other weights of the same Valvoline are, so I think I should be ok. The manual states 10-30 is ok for the temps I'm dealing with.
0w-xW is only if you live in very cold climate.
Used the Shurflo drill powered pump, oil from the engine, straight to the container that goes at the curb. What could be better?
West Marine quit carrying this supposedly because it didnt' work?
Mine worked great. But then I followed the instructions!
