Smile Considering new 2007 C350 Sport 6-speed -- Advise needed

#1, What type of prices are people negotiating now that MY08 is around the corner? I think Edmund's TMV is too conservative (still way above invoice) at this point in the life (or death) of the generation.

#2, Anyone has the latest lease program numbers? The latest I found were for May/07 and they're terrible! I hope they're much better now that MY08 is coming out.

#3, Is a 6-speed as difficult to find as a manual SLK is? I haven't asked dealers around here yet, but I did on the SLK and those were nowhere to be found (the closest one would cost me a $850 freight charge).

#4, Any advise on this car, whether positive or negative? Things I need to know? Common problems? It happens very often that someone likes the way a car looks and everything it offers in numbers and even test drives it, but there's nothing like owning one for a while, especially if you also frequent forums like this.

Thank you all in advance!

By the way, in case someone wonders why I am not waiting for the 2008 C350 Sport instead, one reason is the fact that I really don't like the new interior, but the main one is that you can't get a manual transmission anymore, from what I've read. Sucks.

#2, I found this thread with the latest programs as of 7/8/07. They got even worse! I have never seen a .00405 money factor before. And I do look at a lot of lease programs.

Are you getting it to replace the Volvo?

good luck finding a 6-speed. I had a tough time finding an 7-G with the options I wanted.

Otherwise, I absolutely love my car.

Oh, MB is running a factory to dealer cash incentive of $4000 08/1/07 thru 09/04/07, on all in stock C-Classes.

I ordered mine in '06 to get the options that I wanted. Which, primarily was a 6spd.

Good luck finding one with a manual trans. I think that with MY08 on the way, you won't have a whole lot of luck getting anything less than that freight charge if you do locate one. If you feel like it, you can negotiate with the dealership to drop (pay for some of) that cost, but it won't be easy.

When the '08s hit the lots en masse (soon) there will be a bigger push to move out the W203s that remain, but 6spds aren't that common in these parts and the last one that my local got was sold last month. They have a total of 3 W203's left.

Yes. Why? I'm curious why you ask.

I just contacted my local dealer (the Internet Sales Manager, who I have an amazingly good rapport with) and told them what I was looking. They said they didn't know the C350 Sport came standard with a manual transmission. You know what that means, right? They have never seen one.

Thanks a lot for the link. Read below.

I can care less about heated seats (you can never use them in Miami), but I do care about Xenons and COMAND. Those options (especially the Xenons) are a must for me if I am to get this car, so I will need to pass. Let alone the fact that I'd need to drive all the way to Tampa (3.5 hours) just to test drive the car.

Yes, it's very rare and one of the things I like about it most besides the 300HP and style, which I personally consider very beautiful, but you need to drive one for a while to understand all the little problems it has. The suspension in this car is very expensive, but a total waste of money IMHO. And the turning radius is the worst of any car except the Phantom. Even a Yukon Denali turns tighter. I won't get into details cause this is not a Volvo forum, but if you're really curious, check out the R forum over at SwedeSpeed.com. Tons of info on the car there.

I won't show up at a M-B meet with a Volvo. People would look at me funny. And those AMG boys will want to race.
___

Thanks for your feedback, everyone. However, nobody has mentioned much about my original questions #1 (other than johnand's reference to the cash incentive) and #4.

hahahah. I started looking for mine just as the 350's came out. The first dealership I went to didn't even know the 350 existed. They did a search and told me that at the time, there was a TOTAL of 50! C350 Sport Sedans in the country (VPC, dealership lots, etc). I don't even know how many times I was asked "you sure you don't just want a C230?"

I am very happy with the deal and car. The one in Ohio I ended up paying $33,900 OTD for (45k MSRP). There are DEFINITELY deals on 6 spd C-350s to be found.

Love this site by the way.

Now someone tell me if I can make my passenger side mirror tilt down in reverse on a 6 spd 2007 C-350? I've searched and the option doesn't come up in the cluster menu so i figure i am out of luck because of the manual trans? Yes it has power seats dual and memory both sides.

Love this site!

congrats!!!!!! you'll love it. The tilt down mirror feature should work when you put the car in reverse AND you have to have the right mirror button selected (by the headlight switch). I'm not sure if it works on the 6-spd or not either.

That needs to have tilt down enabled by someone like Sunil or Steve.

Coming from a 2004 and 2006 Volvo S60R I wouldn't give up my R for a C350 Sport. I loved mine and it was fast and easily tunable. You'll find with the Benz you'll find just as many issues with it as the R. Unfortunately there are things that I absolutely hate about the Benz and there are things that I hate about the R. Unfortunately I would still be in my R if I could have found one that I wanted once my 3 month old R was totalled by a teenager.

I'll look for you on Swedespeed

Is yours a 6 speed?

I am wondering if the option will work with both automatic and 6 spd manuals.

Mine is auto, but yes it will work with either transmission once programmed.

It's funny how many different stories I get... I was told the mirror and all types of switches and harnesses had to be replaced to get it to work.

I'm not sure who the person is who programmed yours, but do you think the stealership could do it?

Thanks
