hit a pothole today

i hit a pothole today on the way to work, the thing was huuge i dk why those construction works dug a huuge rectangular dip. the POS in front of me had his hub cap flying down the road. i couldnt swerve because there was cars to my left and the curb was to my right. my drivers side tire now has a small bubble. the rim is ok i think. should i leave the tire the way it is??? is there anything i can do besides replacing it?

If the tire has a bubble, I would suggest you replace it.... Anything that compromises the way the tire should be is bad. I would rather change it now then get a flat later you know?

You most likely split the cords on the tire. That usaully ends up causing a major tire failure. High speed blow out that might make you loose control. Your choice though, I would change it.

I hit a pothole at work the other day and ended up getting a pinchflat on one tire and a bubble in the other. Luckily i have free replacement for road hazards on all my tires!

As others have said, bubbles mean the tire has been compromised and is no longer safe to drive on, so you should definitely get it replaced. I think you should change your wheels too...not because of the tire damage, though.

excites your girlfriend
same thing happened to me when I hit a pothole in NYC, got two bubbles! I was just glad the wheel or axle wasn't broken because that's how hard it hit!
Scratch that I forgot the wheel WAS broken, it cracked the rim.

Is it true that you can apply for compensation with local government from tire damage for potholes in road construction areas?

Ask them to spin the wheel on the balancer to check for any bends or dents.

Two weeks ago I hit a pothole hidden under a puddle. Got out looked at the bubble on it and then drove it home. When I got home it was still a bubble. Pissed I went inside to tell my girlfriend and when we came out and I showed her, the entire tire was flat.

Took it to get the rim checked out and 2 new front tires and $600 bucks later all was well.

Be careful and check on it.
