Well, its over, the engine blew up!
Am I the only one that agrees with SoCal240? I think Timmy is completely full of it. He's had too many problems and too bad of skill to back his claims.
2. The C230K "IS" a hatchback.
It is a Coupe and a Hatchback. By definition a coupe has two-doors, which the C230 has. End of discussion, it is both, what do you want them to name it the C230 SportCoupe Hatchback? That is a little long. It is both, as it has 2-doors and a damn hatch.
If the car is a hatchback by all means, MB is at fraud. Then we coupe owners can get some money back when the car is renamed back to it's low class status.
This will be a win-win situation. You guys will be peace with the name C230 Hatchback, and I won't mind my car being officially a hatchback with the extra $10k or so that I'll get back from MB
.
Yes, the M Coupe is technically a hatchback.
But, because it doesn't have a rear seat, it's styling is not prototypical economy car hatchback, like the MB Hatchback.
Although I'd say that the M Coupe, with its more upright hatch, is more of a hatchback than those other cars.
By the way, the last few times I noticed that SoCal240/6 posted his hatchback vs. coupe arguments someone else first mentioned him by name/asked his opinion - then got upset when he replied with his usual response.

Funny, the first time I saw an M3 coupe I thought it was a seriously riced-out 2-door Civic.
dont know the name though.

If everyone finds this debate amusing wait until MB starts selling the $50,000 four door hatchback sedan.

its not a hatchback, the trunk opens just as any other sedan, its a coupe in that the rear doors are much smaller than the front....
Also, the rear doors appear to have the same size differential from the front doors as a 3-series sedan.
I think the original suicide door design was much more keeping with a coupe designation.
Cheers, BT
i agree that i dont think it is a coupe or a hatchback, just an altered sedan, but its filling a market, the name will probably sell cars....
Now, if we could just get seized motors back into this thread we will have really come full-circle.

Wow it took me 2 days to read through this thread, fascinating stuff. So who won the argument?
