mines still on order, yet to be built even. but i have my list for mods slowly building. first i'd like to do is get my coupe chipped. i have an upsolute in my VW, and been very happy with it. i heard upsolute has a chip for the '03 C230. what kind of hp/torque increase can i expect. anyone else have an upsolute in a '03, or any other manufacturer for that matter. thanks!

well, if you've read the posts here, you'll have read that i actually like the citron green! a few of us do.

yes, the links are for the '02 coupes so they don't directly apply to the '03 models.

I think the Citron Green is actually one of the best colours for the C 230 K. Ours is Magma Red but that does not mean that I don't like the green. I do. Good choice.

if we notice carefully...every model have 1 special color which is only avaliable for that model.

The S has the purpish-blue silver
CLK has the purple ( i love it!...especially with black interior)
SLK has that sunburst yellow
well..theres many others.. i dun have the time to list it..

for c coupe..i think it is the citron green..

Chipped? Hell yeah...just follow a dump truck down the hiway...your car will be chipped by the time you get to work

I like the Citron Green...its a great match with the C-Coupe styling. I'd never buy it in that color, I think it would likely nuke your resale...its definately something that's an aquired taste

Post some pics when you get it!

Chipping a M 271 engine

Maybe you should check out German tuners like HS Elektronik, etc. if you're really keen on juicing the engine up.

However, bear in mind that this unit is already producing over 105 HP per litre, compared to the M 111 engine (2.3 L predecessor) at only 84 HP/L. BMW M3s seem to have a major problem sustaining 105 HP/L. So the 189 HP M 271 is already stressed a fair bit. How far can you push it without comprimising the engine's engineering limits?

Following the VW Audi lead with the 225 HP variant of the VW 1.8, I'd stay below 125 HP/L if I were you. Meaning of course, not more than 225 HP. Considering that the Audi TT offering is designed from the factory to produce that output, you'd likely still be pushing the limits. In fact, I'd leave it stock myself. I'm risk-averse.

Edit: I just checked HS Elektronik - they're still developing chips for the M 271 engines according to their website. I guess you'll have to wait a little while, for them at least.

Oh, and HS Elektronik reports that their chipped 239 HP 2.3 L C 230 K hits 259 km/h (161 MPH) and that even the EU version of the stock C 230 K (2.3 L) has a speed limiter set at 240 km/h (only 149 MPH). Interesting.

thanks

i have read many posts concerning citron. it didnt sway my opinion one bit. i have the impression alot if not most dislike it, to some extent. there are some that like it but wouldnt buy it either for resale value or it didnt suit them. others like it but didnt want to pay $1150 for it, and there are those who like it and even love it. i understand that everyone is entitled to their opinion, which is why i got the color i did. im not quite sure about the resale value. my dealer wanted $5k for a deposit just to order the car. they said becuase im getting most options except the auto trans and the main reason is citron, they were afraid if i ordered and walked they wouldnt be able to sell it either. i guess that says something. though im not looking at selling the car for some time, for that matter i dont even have it yet, nor has it been built. being a rare color, it could be a hit or miss trying to sell. if i need to get rid of it and fast for whatever reason i may face resale issues. but if i sell it at my leasure and there is a person out there looking for citron they might buy it for asking. like i said i dont plan on selling for a long time, im not getting the color to make a dollar, im getting it because i love it, it suits me, it fits the car, and thats that. i appreaciate everyones kind comments. im sure there are some who have bitter (no pun intended) thoughts or words. hey mikeT. i didnt think about the hp per litre that you mentioned. it makes sense and i can see the downside. since thats the case i think the chip is out. i dont wanna stress the engine, being an I-4, supercharged, 1.8L. damn the real 2.3L can keep the bragging rights. thanks for input!

That's me. I wasn't even happy paying $600 for blue paint. I would have got Citron/Oyster if had the $$.

Awaiting a new arrival...
I absolutely love Citron, and it was fully what I intended to order...but, my dealer knows me well, and my car swapping habits. Therefore, they STRONGLY urged me against ordering it, strictly from a resale perspective. Their opinion was the car was already optioned out well-above their average order...a purely personal taste color could really hurt potential trade-in or private resale. You know that already, though, and you're good with your choice. That's all that matters!

The dealer-type car show in Cincinnati had a citron display car. I liked it, because it was different. Have fun. Does MB publish production numbers by color? I'll bet that fewer than 200 are in the US.

im not sure if they do publish production numbers for the US. when i ordered the car, as for a 03 model, with the options i wanted, none had been configured like that and shipped to the US and none were scheduled to be at the time. that was the salesman talking so i dont know if he was being all that honest. i dont have any reason to not believe him, but ive bought cars before and there are somethings you just have to take with a grain of salt. even if it is untrue, im sure the #'s arent very high. like i said im not getting configured like that to make money. my train of thought is, if im buying a new car, and im spending $34k+ on it, im gonna get it just the way i want it.
