need help with climatronic

I bought this C320 climatronic from a guy and I can't do the tunnel mode where you can close and re open all your windows and sunroof by holding the air recirculation button? I have a c230 and I know the original climatronic can do it because I play with it all the time. Can a C320 owner confirm about this? I mean a c320 climatronic can do a tunnel mode right? Thanks.

I think you're saying that you have bought a Climatronic unit and have installed it in your C230K... but it doesn't work?

If so, understand that Climatronic only activates existing "one-touch" auto-close/open features already in the car. The sedans have one-touch close for the sunroof (where fitted), but my understanding is that the Coupe doesn't have one-touch close for the Panorama roof. So, Climatronic won't be able to work the Pana-roof as it does the sunroof in the sedan. At most, it'll cycle the windows in the doors, only.

I'm no expert at this. Someone else have an opinion?

Another ? on the climatronic....
Is it supposed to be connected to a vehicle equipped with separate fans for each of the front passengers? If so, and I put the unit in a C240, which I assume only has a single fan for both front passengers, what will happen? I seem to recall reading something about this unit controlling two fans. Is the second fan for the rear passengers? Does anyone know where this second fan is supposed to be mounted. Any idea if the second fan can be fitted into a C240. Is the C240 already wired for the fan (since they are basically the same car with different engines and options?

thanks!!!!!!!

Jim

i asked about this. unfortunately, the seller doesn't have the panoroof option, so he couldn't confirm it. but, i'd be very suprised if the digital climatronic would close the roof automatically. but, he did say that the windows worked fine.

hmmm

ok this might seem unbelievable but my old (analog) climatronic closes my sunroof in tunnel mode. Hold down the air recir while the windows closes and it closes the roof while my new (digital) clima doesnt close the window nor the roof. That sucks. Any solution from c230 with clima owners?

If I drive with my windows and sunroof open, I use it to close them all before I get out of the car. It's easier to just push one button. It's more of a nicity really. If it stopped working, I don't think I would care enough to make a trip to the dealer.

I kno

I know, its not so useful but its still cool. I'd rather to do it from outside with the smartkey but I still don't want to loose a feature. Can somebody help me with my new clima problem?

btw the 02 coupe doesn't close the roof in tunnel mode. 03 does.

Correct... the tunnel mode of the 2002 C230 does not close the sunroof because the sunroof does not inherently have auto close itself. Said another way, there is no “one touch” (you have to hold the button) way of manually closing the roof, hence the tunnel mode will not work either.

Sorry… have to chime in every now and then…

Nice to see you here, Bos. The 2003's don't have one touch close for the roof either, but the tunnel mode works.

Thanks... I didn't know that about the 03's, but then again, my priorities have changes a little. But it is good to check in every now and again. Glad to see you're still hanging in there as well.

In the same area of the computer settings where you enable “HID’s present” there are some references to “Automatic window closing” and “Convienence operation in recirculated air mode”. Maybe one of these, or another one specifically related to the sunroof, got turned off when you swapped the control unit. I’d have your dealer hook it up and check the settings. See these screen shots from Renncpe for the settings I'm referring to.

Before I returned it, I'd try to re-sync the windows and sunroof via the instructions in the manual. If that didn't work, I'd unplug it and make sure it was installed correctly. Do the other functions of that button work?

yes and no

yes and no. The other controls are fine but the charcoal filter does nothing. It has nothing to do with the tunnel mode. Anyway, what page of the manual said something about the resynch of the windows and roof cuz I've looked around and find only how to synch the roof and not the clima. Should I do that? I've reinstalled it 3 times and the analog one (original) does the tunnel but the digital doesn't. Please help Thanks.
