Also mine have been acting weird. They work sometimes, but sometimes it can be raining heavily and they will wipe every minute I'm pretty sure I even turned them on once.. Sprayed the sensor with water... And nothing laugh out loud how can I adjust them with star? Sensitivity of the sensor can be adjusted?

They can be adjusted with Star. The new version where the sensor is embedded in the screen is much better though. They work well on my CLK.

I wish it was easy to retrOfit all the new technology into the old cars... haha but do you know i the dealership will charge for this adjustment? Also, do you know how easy it is to DIY replace my sensor? Even though it's like 150 bucks, I might try and clean the inside of it

You need local help for what a dealer would charge to adjust. Trey makes a very good point. Make sure there are no mineral deposits or silicone build up on that area of the screen.

Rain sensor on new windshield bad?
Sorry to go a little off-topic, but it sounds like some knowledgeable people here. 2002 C-320, with three-position wiper (intermittent (delay based upon amount of water), low and high speed.
Recently, windshield was replaced. Now the intermittent position runs continuiously at low speed, whether or not there is water on the windshield.
Autoglass company has been cooperative; but asked me to have Mercedes look at it. The local MB dealer (Oxnard, CA) wants $144 "troubleshooting fee" to diagnose the rain sensor to see if it's the culprit!
I'll have windshield galss company deal with this - but can anyone advise me is there any DIY troubleshooting I can perform? Any fuses to check? Is running constanly in low speed a common sign of bad rain sensor?
Thanks

I would make sure the sensor is plugged in to start with or not missing. I have heard that it is best to buy a windshield with sensor pre installed by Mercedes but don't know if that is true or not.

More Head Scratching on new windshield and rain sensor!
Yes, there is a rain sensor and it came pre-installed on the new windshield. I've had the new winshield for less than 1 month.
Quite by accident, I discovered that with the wipers in the "intermittent" position (running continuiously, wet or dry) the wipers will STOP when I open the driver's door! However, they will continue to run in the LOW or HIGH switch posistion.
For whatever reason, my new windshield did not come with a rain sensor, it came with a "Driver's door open" sensor!
Any MB techs out there? Ever hear of this? Any fuses I should be checking?

You should be able to leave the wipers in the rain sensing position permanently. When you switch off and evacuate the car they shut down until you re-enter the car & drive off. Similar behaviour to cornering fog lights in the auto position.
EDIT - BTW - Benz does not recommend leaving the wipers in intermittent rain sensing mode as other suprious inputs can trigger them on a dry screen when in "D" or "R".

The opening the door thing is normal operation so you don't spray water on yourself from the wipers. You will probably need star to figure out what is going on and need to test the wires going to the rain sensor as well as possibly the rain sensor. I would say see if the glass place will cover a dealer visit to get it looked at.

This is way off topic, but I just wanted one of you smart guys to just throw me some knowledge. Feel free to reply with a private message. But does anyone know how to put the leather panel back without scratching the armrest console? As I already scratched the leather pretty bad

Rubbing alcohol?no no no.
You want this if you want to try to avoid replacing the wipers.
http://www.303products.com/shop303/i...-treatment.cfm
Also get the Aerospace protectant for your weatherstripping.
It keeps it from sticking especially on the sunroof.
That you can buy at NAPA auto or West Marine.
The wiper things I think you gotta order online, or they put on in their 'free' sample kit.
And order wipers online, don't go to the dealer, they want like 60+ for a set vs, like 30 online.
