Original idea? or a stupid one.

I've been meaning to debadge my car since I bought it because... well not too many are overly proud of having the C-class with the weakest engine. Then again, I do like the way the badges look on the back. Without them, it might look too... I don't know, empty maybe? Anyways, I'll get to the point. I was thinking of taking off the "240" part and rebadging (TO C55 TO ADD DA WHORSPOWUR.... sorry) to make it say "C-Klasse". I figured it would be original and might add something to my car so that only those who know their **** would notice it. Any opinions on this idea?

As to how I'm going to do it... that's another story. I was thinking about buying Kompressor badges for the K, S's, and E, CL (or CLK) badges for the L, but I'm kind of stumped on the A. I was thinking Brabus badges, but I'm not sure if they're different size from the stock. I was also looking for websites that do custom badges, but most I found don't let you choose the style and are too blingy or ricer looking. Any help or opinions on this would be appreciated.

W203 C200Kompressor {2003 and a 2007}
i think its sad to re-badge a car!!

if u have a C240, b happy that its a C240!!

i have C200kompressors and i will NEVER de-badge them!!

i am even gona put a C32AMG kit and wen the kit is on, you wont b able to tell that its a C200 but i will make it a C200AMG Kompressor!!

wen u can afford that C55, then u'l b proud to tell every1 that u have one!!

remember, the c-clas is looks WAY differnet to all the other mercs!!

u CANT put like a E240 badge on a c-class, thats jus stupid!!

be happy with wat u have bro!! dont re-badge!!!

Just take off the 0 (zero) and get an AMG badge. It will look like a C28 AMG

I have a C-350 .. I took off the 0 and bought this.. It looks hot and no one really knows except the thousands of members of this board

I think rebadging it to 'C55' was a joke

He was asking about how changing 'C240' to read 'C-klasse' and additionally in a classier font than the bulky C-KLASSE, if possible.

My opinion is de-badge or keep as-is, get a personal plate if you want to be different

thats what he was saying but guess not too many of the members here can read correctly or they just jumped to conclusion to what he was saying.

as to where to get the "klasse" emblem I remember a link to a site that had custom badge, I'll try to find it.

I de-badged my car and I like it alot. At first I was thinking bout replacing the kompressor with amg and removing the c230 (still in the back of my head) but for know it looks good. Might do it after I do some amg mods to my car ( I know its doesn't have an amg engine but unless you want to pay for it I don't want to hear it.)

The original post and majority of the replies make this a strong contender for most ignorant post of 2007. Thanks to this and Shake's underglow thread, this week is off to a terrible start.

W203 C200Kompressor {2003 and a 2007}
both my cars have personal plates ie TAMISH-ZN and TAMISH 2-ZN

tamish is my name and ZN stand for kwaZulu Natal which is the province/state.

and here in south africa, mercedes are COMMON cars!!

so rebadging is not a smart move because most of the guys know the mercs quite well!!!

mercs are MUCH more expensive here than in the states!!

if you do a conversion, we pay close to $10 000 more than the americans for a C-class merc, yet they are common on the SA roads!!!

the reason why mercedes is doing so well in SA is because they hold a good resale value!!

and also, we dont have cadelac, dodge, bentley, aston martin etc! even if we do, its realitivly new so alot of the older guys who have the money to buy those cars, and would still settle for a benz!!

wft is up with the guys and their M3's anyway??? why would ppl choose an M3 over a C55amg????

the rich kids here are STUPID!! the C55 LOOKS so much better than the M3, the only sad part is that the M3 KILLS the C55 on the black top!

Hmm, I was actually waiting to hear your opinion in particular. I'm not sure if I'm reading it correctly, but did you just compare customer badges (and the whole C55 thing was a joke, apparently it flew over 99% of the people's heads) to NEON UNDERGLOW? I could see if I dead seriously wanted to change it to C55, that would be ridiculously lame, but my car is a C-class.

I know this, but for some reason I doubt A-class badges are easy to come by.

Thanks for being the first poster to actually make sense and elaborate on your opinion.

I really was just posting to see what people though, so it isn't like I've done it already. If enough people thought it was stupid or ricey, then I'm not going to bother investing my time/money.

It's not necessarily the custom badge that I have a problem with. I don't like the thought of wanting to debadge/rebadge because you're trying to pass your car off as something it's not. I debadge all my cars because I prefer a cleaner look and would do the same if I owned an AMG. It's like wearing your clothes with the tag on the outside.

How is his car going to be something that its not if he just changes the C240 badge to say "C Klasse" Its still a C Class He's asking if its an original idea or stupid...so just state your answer and move on....in the original post he said absolutely nothing about badging his car w/ AMG, BRABUS, or E class or whatever....so everyone that jumped all over him made this a terrible thread...

He said, "I've been meaning to debadge my car since I bought it because... well not too many are overly proud of having the C-class with the weakest engine", which leads me to believe he doesn't want people to know which engine he has and would rather have them assume it's something more than it really is. The replies about adding an AMG badge and/or removing certain letters only made it worse. I can't say it's an original OR stupid idea because it's both... originally stupid.

You guys are funny getting bent out of shape over nothing.

To each their own I suppose.

I took the original question as him being disappointed in it saying "C240" and what he could do to liven it up....... He said he wanted to rebadge it to C55, so how is that not similar to my comment about taking the 0 off and making it a C24 AMG (ok i wrote C28, sue me) .........

Definitely not into it saying "C-Klasse" or whatever.. I love OEM badges

At least I would never consider neons
