I downgraded to a VW, it's still German though
With all this boost gauge talk, I decided to put in a boost gauge just because I can. Where do I mount it though? Anybody have pictures of theirs? Any ideas? I was thinking in the slot under the radio.

There used to be a custom pillar you could buy for the a pillar. I'm not sure if it's still available anywhere though.

hey somebody has just posted a link
Call Church Automotive in Wilmington, CA - ask him for boost readouts on all 1.8L C230Ks that have been through there in this last year.
Talk to Sean Church, the owner who personally dyno'd these cars, of whom I'm good friends with:
Church Automotive Testing - 300 Quay Ave. Wilmington, CA 90744 310-518-4966
Now, of course, it would suck if all the dynos there were calibrated incorrectly then I'm shooting myself in the foot.
edit:
Not trying to be a thorn in anyone's, but some other references to stock boost numbers go back to 2003ish:

~11PSI stock looks more like it...I see that being tossed around more often...that or Drex has an oddball strong M271.

Regardless, the main thing is, more companies seem to be experimenting with the m271, but I can honestly say that my tuner was one of the first (that I ever heard of) to really delve more into it. Hence, I have custom injectors in my car right now to keep the engine safe and keep the AFR from being close to detonation. Since the m271 is set to such a high level (bone stock), the AFR actually runs close to the 15-16 range (from what I remember) and my tuner was able to get it down to the 12-13 range consistently at WOT.
My sacrifice for testing is the gas mileage dropped significantly because of the larger injectors, but at the same time...it is pretty darn fun to know that my car is running safe. There's still more that needs to be completed, but that's all a part of the fun. The tune still needs to be sharpened up a 'bit, but that will get done when the other projects come along.
