Driving at 100 mph on the highway achieves about the same fuel economy as driving around in city traffic. Frankly, combined with the fact that winter fuel has less BTU per gallon, I think you're about right.

Yeah, try to drive like a gramma, it actually works!
I use to get 22mpg in city and 28 on freeway(20minutes trip), I hit 32 once 2hour trip. When I tryied the gramma style in city I got 25-26
I was so amazed. that was my discovery of the month!

(Shift early at 2K rpm and rev a lil more for higher gears without reaching 2.5k rpm so the supercharger wont kick in at least for my M111).

If I drive aggressively on the highway
130-140km/hr 9-10L/100km (23-25mpg)

If I drive conservatively using cruise control
108-115km/hr 6.8-8L/100km (29-34mpg)

Lower number is better

It is amazing how much better the fuel mileage when you drop your speed from 130 to 105km/h (81mph to 65mph)

The optimum economy is at 85-90km/h (50-55mph) Grandma driving and once I did that on the highway for a test and got 6.5L/100km (36mpg)

my tires were underinflated

perhaps this was also an issue. I went to check the air in my tires, and they were all underinflated, by about 10 lbs...so I fixed that, and hopefully this will make a difference...

Just an FYI, I run my PSI at 38 front and about 39 to 40 rear.

I have the amg wheels, i think the max is 44 psi for the back, 40 psi for the front. All the tires were at about 30 lbs psi when I checked, so I added air. I've been driving the car around town (city driving), and it does seem like the mpg has gone up (according to the computer). But I really do my determinations by how many miles I get per tank, and how many gallons I fill up.

Those are incredibly high pressures and far from what is recommended for the car. You must feel each expansion joint and pebble on the road.

FYI our tire pressures are not what is printed on the sidewall of our tires.

Remember you'll get worse gas mileage during winter months because of the reformulated gas that's used in the winter time.

I had no idea gas was different in the winter.

Please educate me, how is the gas different in the winter in comparison to the summer?

Thanks,

Thanks,
"Gasoline doesn't vaporize readily at very cold temperatures. So oil companies formulate fuel differently for cold-weather markets in the winter. Unfortunately, the changes that provide better cold vaporization characteristics also result in less available energy for combustion."

In the winter, car's get less mpg, maybe 2-3mpg less. I can't wait till spring, it's way too cold up here!

...and to think I was proud to accomplish 33 mpg on my way to key largo this friday and 31 on my way back to ft lauderdale tonight! 1hour 20min drive. cant remember avg mph somewhere between 58-62 even though I was 80 most the time after the stretch leaving the keys and maintaining that on the turnpike. no sunpass for this paticular trip-- had to stop at 4 tolls! ****ttyyy hahah

gj MB, was VERY surprised with my mileage even for the highway. --now i need to put in my new air filters that are just sitting here staring at me, and try again!

The most mpg the computer has told me I've gotten was 37mpg, without resetting the computer.

I reset the computer once, while I was in motion, and the computer went up to 40mpg, but that doesn't count lol...

However, the most mpg per tank that I've gotten has been about 25. (Dividing miles driven by gallons filled)

I would love to get 30mpg per tank. It would make me feel like I'm fueling my 94 Corolla again lol...

bumping this one up..

so i was actually getting around 34 on my first couple trips with the 05 komp.. well now i cant get the computer to read any where past 27 on the same trip and the same speed on my way to work with the 06

is there really THAT much difference ?? i mean i know the komp is a 4 banger, but you add that SC to it, it SHOULD equal out to the 2.5 in fuel economy????

ughh feels like i took the lessor of the two evils

worse gas mileage, but a more "reliable" engine

also.. that 7 spd driver adaptive transmission.. say the person that had the car before i did beat the **** outa it, and the transmission shifted to that persons driving style, would that possibly effect the mileage at all??

i know thats a stretch, but it makes me wonder... if so, how long will it take to get the computer to adjust to my driving

the 2.5L V6 isn't as good on gas mileage as the Komp I4

hey hockey! youll be happy to know you can reset your ECU so that it resets shifting habits :-D after about 40 or so trips I believe that it will adapt itself to YOUR driving style! a lot of the guys reset theirs religously anyway, try something along the lines of puttin the key in the ignition in the on position without cranking the engine. press and firmly hold your gas pedal completely to the floor. hold it there for 5 or 6 seconds and release. now walk away for 2-3 minutes or just listen to a good song, and it should be reset i dont know if it will help mileage at all, maybe shift faster not over-revving is something you are looking for? its worth a try!
