Sediment does build up in your gas tank after awhile (thus your fuel filter) last thing you want is to suck it all up and ruin the fuel pump.

Wow. You guys get amazing mileage. The most I've ever gotten in my W204 is 28.7 MPG highway 100 percent. Maybe Mercedes should see what they were doing with the W203.

dude...i envy you guys..in the higher thirties....im lucky if i get in the higher 20's...maybe cause i rarely ever go on the highway...my average consumption is about 12 mpg.....hate this..

I couldn't get this kind of gas mileage with the c32 coasting downhill with the engine off.
I'm averaging 14 city. Highway, 19mpg after 30 miles of driving at 60mph grandma mode.

C230 Gas Mileage
Just purchased a 2007 c230. MB dealer loaned it to me for a weekend and I got 32 mpg on a road trip. After I purchased it I was surpised to get only 22 mpg, 2/3 city and 1/3 hwy. Is this what I should expect. Thought it would do better in the city.

how many miles does it have on it compared to the loaner? after an engine gets broken in/loosens up the mileage will come up a little. my '06 (same engine) get's 29-33mpg but that's mostly highway.

Whatever happened to the Hydrogen idea you had a while back? Did you do it?
That mileage was achieved with clever placement of my vehicle behind others, as to take advantage of their draft... I was not "tailgating", just staying close enough to reduce the drag on my car....
If I have little wind and no help from other cars, I can still average 35.5 to 36 mpg.......It's just hard to get that kind of mileage out of the whole tank of gas....
Maybe we should have a mileage challenge.
Who can get the best mpg, per class (C230, C320, C32, etc..) after going 400 miles
Have a deadline of October 15th and see who can submit the best mileage (with picture) .
It can be a 2 part competition:
1....best MPG
2....most miles per tank, with no cheating....
I know it seems impossible not to win one, if you win the other, but it may also depend on when you fill up.....

I have never gone on a long road trip with is though....I bet it would de better then
I just put on a Brabus muffler and HighFlow cat over the weekend, and I have gotten 28mpg yesterday and today driving to school....

How about some real trips, not puttering around town!
This is my most recent trip from Ottawa->Toronto->Indianapolis->St Louis->Albuquerque->Grand Canyon->Salt Lake City->Boise->Seattle->Vancouver
That's ~27mpg for the only country still not using metric.

out of curiosity, if i wanted to improve gas mileage, what could i do? change out my spark plugs? anything else?

i drove down to san diego this weekend. got 31mpg on the way there and 29mpg on the way back. the way back i was going faster, i actually got her up over 100 for the first time.

Horrible Gas Mileage
my 05 c230k usely gets 25+mpg. recently it has not went above 18mpg.
i have tryed using fuel injector cleaner, using a better gas vendor but they had no effect.
and im wondering if anyone knows anything that might be causing it and/or a fix for this problem.

Get it on a scanner & check emissions, fuel trim, MAF, O2 sensors etc. Give it a shot of Techron concentrate. What is the state of tune, plugs etc. How long since it's last proper service & check on the STAR? Something is not correct unless you were driving uphill all the way against a head wind.
