Omg .. I can't believe it happened to me =(

So .. Tuesday night I headed to the mall with a girl friend. Two hours later, I heard the PA page "Would the driver of a white Mercedes Benz, license plate xxx xxx please return to their vehicle immediately". I ran back to my car and saw a security guard standing beside it. At this point I had NO idea what was going on and it was pitch black outside so I didn't spot anything out of the ordinary. Sooo I stood there dumbfounded, waiting for his explanation (he had a REALLY sympathetic look on his face). Before he could say anything, my friend points at my window and goes OMFG...???!?!!!!

My driver side window was shattered into a million pieces on the ground. Apparantly, the thief used a screwdriver. He propped it between the black molding and the edge of the glass. If you yank it really hard the whole glass shatters without a sound. Luckily, my window tint held most of the bits and pieces together so I guess that would explain why my whole freakin window was ripped out.

I'll try to get some pictures up.

Anyways .. got it fixed at Speedy Autoglass. I'm thinking of getting my alarm upgraded to the Compustar 2W800FM or the NUSTART NU3000. But I don't know if the nustart is good enough because the range is only one city block?

I know no matter how good the alarm system is, if someone wants to break into your car nothing will stop them. Geez, don't know what to do.

Any input would be much appreciated.

Jenny

Ouch that sucks. I've had vandalism done to my car recently too. I wonder if any alarms are good enough to help

same here, i asked a while back bout alarm but no one has done one. I left an ipod transmitter out. They took that with the ipod but left the wallet (dumbf*cker) and I was stupid for leaving it out. Window cost more than everything. Since been keeping out an eye for an alarm for benz.

Geez, I thought you were going to say something much worse than a smashed window. I'm glad it wasn't.
I remember a guy I knew who had an Alfa 3.0 Milano...really nice car...
he was eating lunch and looked up in time to see someone run directly into his car and total it...I was almost expecting something on those lines.
GLAD you are OK. Insurance will take care of it.

Sorry to hear that baby-girl. Good thing you weren't IN or NEAR the car when it happened, cuz it would've been worse if you got hurt in the process. What can I say, ish happens.

Just so you don't feel alone, I just found out that one of the driver's at my dealership can't drive in a straight line and apparently curbed one of my rims really bad. Thank God John is my tech and my SA has my back also. They're getting it fixed for me, so just gotta hang on to the loaner for a little while longer.

That sucks and sorry to hear. Drex is right... Thank God you weren't any where near this when it happened. I'm sure all of us who are reading this, will think twice when we jump in our ride, look around to see if we have anything valueable and get it out of views way! Someone here made a good comment... if they want it, they'll get it regardless.... Again... sorry to hear. Hope they didn't take anything of value?!

ughh I'm so mad, I just remember the security guard telling me apparantly, two asian guys "drove" by and saw my window smashed and they reported it. maybe I'm overthinking the situation but I find that so bs. I was standing 2 feet away from my car and i couldn't see anything, it was SO dark and rainy. for all i know, they could've been sitting somewhere watching me discover my broken window. sigh .. i dunno, maybe i'm just so mad that i need someone to put the blame on

I did not leave ANYTHING out in the open. I never do. Nothing much was stolen ... a lighter, some change, all my CD's, and my favorite pair of Fendi sunglasses but i guess it could've been worse. I'm lucky they didn't steal my remote to my garage and my insurance papers .. that would be BAD.

Quarters? It's incredible how low people can go.

I ended up paying it myself. Deductible was 300 and the bill was 350 so no point in going through ICBC. It happened at Metrotown right infront of Silvercity .. I always park underground but for some reason I parked outside that day. Bad choice =(

Thanks for making me feel better =) and sorry to hear about your rim! That really sucks ... I mean, even if someone screws something up and agrees to fix it, I still find that really annoying cause it takes up your time and I know for me, my patience.

But geez, I've been having a string of bad luck with my car lately and I don't think you can top this. I have to get my bodykit taken off and repainted..the guy agreed to do it but gonna take a week. My car rattled like crazy when it was on..found out it was the catalytic converter so had to get it replaced. I ran over a super sharp rock and I have a big hole in my tire now. My door lock actuator messed up so I have to get that fixed. I have to get my winter setup put on cause my Falken's absolutely suck in the rain. anddd last but not least, someone breaks into my car.

Just to let you know, this all happened in less than 3 weeks.

I'm pretty sure I saw some scratch marks on my door but haven't had any time to look over my car yet .. all I know is, the black panel that separates the two windows is a bit dented and the rubber has a little rip because that's where the guy was prying at.

I still need to vacuum out my car .. it's not fun sitting on broken glass =(

LYJ: is your avatar really your pic?....or you just like her? nice white mercedes by the way.

Blood was all over my car when i found it after it got broken into. I walked to my parked car to see glass INSIDE the car. It was a messy cleanup. The next day on my way to the autobody shop to fix the window, I look over at the door and notice blood. EEEERRRRRRk, quick detour to the police station.

The cop wants to send out a police car to my house thinking it had been broken into there. When I told him the car was double parked outside, he walked out to take a report. After noticing it was just a smudge of blood and not a whole puddle, he shrugged and went back into the office to write something up. I never heard from them since.

WHAT TO DO:
While driving around, notice which streets have shattered glass on the curbside.....that all comes from break ins. Be warned and don't park there...ever.
