Coming from the E46 (BMW)forum the service oil warning comes on between 14000-15000 miles but most owners change their oil in between 5000-7500k. For an extra 70-90 dollars every 7500 miles, why not? Easy enough, get an oil extractor from griot, put the same amount of oil you got from the extractor, pull the oil filter which is on top of the bay then your done. I normally alternate between the oil extractor and gravity method eighter by me or the dealer (when it used to be under warranty).

Seems like the conclusion was to stick to the FSS for oil changes (every 15000km in Canada or 10000mi in the US).

10 years later, do we still agree with this considering we use Mobil 1 04-40 which is a synthetic oil as well? Or is the recommendation to change oil more frequently?
From endless oil sample analyses viewed. 15,000Km is an ideal change interval.

^ Perfect...thanks Glyn.

PS: I meant to say Mobil 1 0W-40 in my original post.
