Mirror blinker customizing.....

Just wondering if there are others out there who have done away with their incandescent mirror blinkers.

A while back, I had posted some details as to how I had upgraded my mirror blinkers to make use of LEDs.

Wanted to see if anyone has done the same.

i'm planning on doing it tomorrow with my dad. did you change all of the bulbs (6) in the one mirror or just the three outer? i want to get rid of the amber bulbs, so im wondering if it would be fine if i just changed the 3 outer bulbs and take out the 3 inner bulbs. would it work? thanks!

Viktorious, you can use only the 3 outers however I don't recommend it. Something you need to consider if you do. By using only the 3 outers the mirror blinker will only be effective for vehicles in and around your "blind" spot. If that is something you're comfortable with.....then by all means, do it. For myself, all 6 of the incandescents bulbs were replaced with LEDs.

SKIDZ,

If I recall correctly, the mirror blinker strips are connected to the bulb-out malfunction system so that if the bulb goes out, the system will display a warning. How did you manage to get around this with the LEDs?

"Load Equalizers" were used to draw the additional current necessary to fool the computer.

If you are refering to the third stop light, those bulbs are incandescent, too. Page 350 of the Operator's Manual.

Ah I see. I am familiar with these devices. Which one did you use? How many ohms and where are they mounted?

BTW, you didn't do this mod youself did you?

Hey Drew_ML, don't think that because I was able to explain to you some details of my mods does it mean I'm capable of actually performing the mod. Fortunately, I have a very good friend that is quite competent in doing such mods. Sorry, but I don't have an answer for your question; simply cause I don't know.

Not a problem, SKIDZ, I'm sure that I will, if not someone else, figure it out eventually, LOL. Thanks anyway!
