Always wear a belt!

However there are some situations where wearing a belt is crazy and the warning noise drives you crazy, for instance I sometimes have to deliver 200+ letters from door to door, I prob' achieve 3MPH top between doors... and for this purpose I have cut the end buckle of a seatbelt from a breaker that my friend had in his yard.. plug that in.. problem solved!

BUT I DO NOT CONDONE NOT WEARING A SEAT BELT IN ANYWAY!

i have an 06, for some reason, when i take off my seatbelt, the no seatbelt sign doesnt show and no beeping. is this normal? it only shows when i dont have it on when i start the car. but when i drive, and take it off, it doesnt indicate it, and no beep. BUT, i do wear 'em. been in a wreck and without the seatbelt, i'd be dead!

just want to ask if this is normal (although when i was driving a loaner 07, it beeps and indicates that there's no seatbelt regardless if you are running or not).

You know I've been wanting to get rid of that peske pedal in my way of my size 14's.

-Sorry couldn't resist. But think about others as you bump around the cabin if you were to lose control....

I like the beeping.. so it can annoy the person beside me so that they WOULD put the seatbelt on, otherwise I would just drive aggressively until they DO put their seatbelts on (which usually works)

this is the most funniest post i read.

Crazy idea and such.

I dont' know about all of you. I prefer the seat belt lights, blinks and buzz. As some said, it's an enforcement to anyone who sits in the front without putting the belt on.

Besides, this is to save you from an accident and not the other way around (at least it's design to do just that).

I notice my 06 does not have this feature where it stays on or continues to beep. Some others with models above c230 and 07 c230 has it. Funny thing is, on the manual it says it suppose to stay on until belt is fasten. Wonder if mine is broken.

Haha well I hate the beep because it's SO DAMN LOUD... Nothing in a benz should be that loud and blaring ( I know they made it that way for a reason). I feel like I'm in a Kia when I'm in the car and hear that beep though. Oh and I ALWAYS wear my seat belt all the time. Problem is I have a routine and that is I get in, start it up and while it's warming up I put my seat belt on then mess with the radio.. Now in this car it's turn the key and BEEP BEEP BEEP at 5:30 in the morning and it drives me into a rage lol.

Well, aside from that. There is a way.

You have to use DAS from the dealership to change some setting. Still I can't imagine why one would not use the seatbeat regardless how tough you can be in or not in a accident.

Just think of you as the ball in the pinball machine. Doesn't look good.

The seatbelt already saved my life twice... Take my advice, wear it even when you think nothing could go wrong in such a short trip.

He said he wears it. I know his pain. The beeps at start up are blaring and painful. The stupid thing is that the beeps that the car does when you drive away not wearing your belt are so faint you can't hear it hardly. I've gotten into the habit of buckling my belt BEFORE I start the engine because the initial beeps rape my soul.

My mother was never a fan of seat belts. She claims her life was saved in the early '60s when my father rolled his Renault Dauphine into a ball throwing both of them away from the crash. I don't think that car had seat belts! They spent a few days in the hospital and thankfully ended up ok. That was probably the only time I can think when not having a seat belt was good. As long as she lived I required her (and anybody else who rides with me in my car) to wear their seat belt - even though she would remind me of her past good fortune not wearing one.

I always wear my seat belt unless I'm driving my car from the garage to the parking pad or vice versa. I don't need a stupid buzzer to tell me that my belt is unbuckled (thank you very little) and I would shut mine off if I could.

I too would love to be able to silence the beeping, the warning light is OK. And yes, I use my seat/shoulder harness ALL the time, I don't back out of the driveway without it on. The problem I have with the way too loud beep is the same one as mentioned by Grey Rabbit. When I start my car in the garage I prefer to start it first and then while it is warming a little, fasten my seatbelt and if I want some noise, turn on the radio or CD. With such a quiet car all that noise does seem out of place and unnecessary. So, if anyone knows an easy way to silence the racket, let us know.

I've finally gotten used to the obnoxiously loud beep. Mercedes cars have always had downright offensive buzzers/beepers. It's part of the character, ultimately.

Thats terrible. Right there reading that would make me want to wear my seatbelt, which I do. Sometimes if I forget I always have my 6 year old daughter tell me "Daddy, put on your seatbelt."

But even with words of encouragement like this to have someone where their seatbelt. Some people have to learn the hard way..
