2003 c230 cloth interior
Hello all,
I've got my heart set on the C230 for myself for my new car this spring, now all I need to do is find a configuration that is pleasing both to me and to my wallet. :p What I'd like to do is get the standard charcoal cloth interior, c2, heated seats, and cd changer. What worries me is I wasn't a real big fan of the pattern on the cloth - it's a little busy for my taste. But I saw on MB's site, in the configuration for the coupe, a different pattern for the charcoal cloth. The only problem is it's such a small picture I can't get a good idea of what it would really look like - I included the picture with this post. Does anyone have this interior? Can you please post a picture of what it looks like if you have it?
Thanks a bunch!

Yeah, Edmunds describes the pattern as looking like "a grunion run". It's just bizarre since MBUSA's site still shows the fish pattern in all its photos, but when you go to build a C Coupe the pattern that it shows for the charcoal cloth is the one I attached, with dots on it. I'm thinking that *might* be an improvement, but since that picture is so small I can't really tell.
But I agree, they should really just make it plain. Of course it's probably just a marketing ploy to get people to buy leather.

I like it
I have a 2002 C230K with the oyster cloth and we really like it. With the Orion blue exterior, my wife says the car is "cheeryful" appearing. The pattern is not bad at all. The leather left me cold, literally.

I agree about what leather can do for a car. However, unless the dealer can really hook me up, it will most likely be a choice between getting the c2 package, or leaving that off and getting leather and wood trim (I don't think I'd like the aluminum with the leather).
So which do you guys think is more worth the price: c2 or leather?

Well on audi A4s (B5 platform) the sport bucket seats in US only came with cloth but it wasn't the fuzzy carpet like cloth on some Am cars but nice cloth...nice enough that if there were no patterns and just plain black/charcoal I would get it over leather (it grips better than leather anyway). BUT since every cloth interior has some sorta weird pattern I try to get leather for that clean/smooth look.:p

The pics I posted are up to date. I have seen over 20 2003's with cloth interiors at the two dealers here, and the cloth has not been changed. If you go to the german MB site and go into the konfigurator page, it shows that pattern. But, you can get the little fishies in red, blue, green, and yellow as well as grey.

I got the charcoal cloth and the pattern doesn't bother me. At first I was afraid that it would, but it grew on me. I don't even think about it anymore. I just get in the car and drive. Good luck with your new car.

the c230 is the first car i ever owned that had cloth interior.
i would have gotten leather but when i got the c230 this is all they had unless i wanted to order one and wait 4 months.
i dont mind the cloth at all. i actually think if it did not have the pattern it would be ugly, to dull.

Deal for you
Hey Ezzie,
If you PM me this weekend, I'd be willing to sell you my BRAND spanking new C320. You'd save a ton of money not having to pay the tax, license, registration, destination&delivery, dealer prep, etc. that I paid last weekend.
It's a bit more car than I can afford, so I'm willing to take a loss to get out from under it. I'm asking 40K. Its got chrome wheels too! Very few miles on it (maybe 200). Its got the rain sensor, power sun/moon roof, auto-dimming mirrors, the whole C2 package. Also has the 5-spd electronically controlled auto transmission and the factory installed CD changer. It's brilliant silver with charcoal leather interior.
lemee know,
EDJ

Lets also not forget it has the short throw shifter and a few other undocumented features.
Definately the best deal going on ANY Mercedes model.
Back on the topic...I liked the cloth. I didn't get it because Ive got a newborn son, and the thought of cleaning up baby spittle on the cloth made the leather a no brainer. Definately get the panoramic sunroof over the leather. But make sure youve got the C7 package...its amazing how much a difference it makes.

Yes, I hadn't really considered the C7 package for myself for that very reason(I'm in Milwaukee). Plus, it will be a leased car so I'm not all that interested in the hassle of swapping out tires twice a year.
While I would really love the leather, I know that I'll most likely get more use out of the sunroof, rain sensor, and auto-dimming mirrors, so I think that's what will be the winner. That said, I'll see probably have my dealer run the numbers with the leather and wood trim on there as well!
Thanks for your input guys!
