W203 engine swap... is it possible?
well... i have a w203 c200k at the moment and i was just wondering if it is possible to put a new engine in it. There's a s55 amg engine for sale here and i was thinking about making use of it in my car!! has anyone done this before? and if i would conduct this engine swap, what will i have to replace (i.e. brakes, suspension, etc.)??
I've also noticed that there are c55 amgs out there... is the engine used in the c55 the same engine as the s55?
Thanks,
Michael

idk about it, but im sure there would be some serious $$ in it. One of the guys i know is in the process of doing a GM LSX 408 w/ a 3speed and 9" rear in an 01 c240....its going to be NASTY!! To fit the v8 in there was a lot of cutting and fabrication to be done.. I know he is well over 15k into it now...but he wants full interior kept...including most of the electronics...and to look stock from outside except slicks and skinnies

the price of doing it so would cost you a good used S55...
and it won't run as nice
an S55 you get
chick magnet rolling style
comfy car
good suspension
nice body kit
22inch wheels

Sounds like a fun project. I know Brabus did this a long time ago in a C-Coupe back in 2002 when it came out. It maybe a lot easier to retrofit a C32 setup, but don't know. Just helping a buddy select a new motor for his '97 Mustang and many people have done it before him, yet it's never as easy as it sounds, a lot of custom fabrication like fuel rails he had to deal with.

There was a guy with a C43 motor in a W203 sedan around here somewhere....
I once saw an slk32 go for 10 grand, due to salvage title, and the top wouldn't open...the thought of parting it out, and keeping the drivetrain was tempting.

old s55 motor's the same as the c43 motor except different displacement. It can be stuffed into the w203 without doing the C55 front end. it's been done. costly, but it's been done.
the c55 only has a clk front end because amg want the car to look updated.
