Heated Seat Retrofit

Hi all
I read god knows how many posts regarding the possibilities of installing heater pads in my W203.

If i kept it OEM does anyone know what models i could look at in terms of using their pads? I believe that the A-Class and SLK's are a option.

I know there are a few people who have retrofitted these to the rear seats as well, the same questions applies!

Thanks in advance.

I had it done by Sunil, see link in my signature. You can use aftermarket pads, but you'll need an OEM wiring harness and switchrow buttons. You can also use OEM pads, though I'm not sure which ones are compatible. If you're going to use OEM pads, why not use W203 OEM pads?

OEM switch row is VERY expensive ~$200 you have to buy the whole row including the hazards. Unfortunately it is not a component add on very Stupid by the marketers in Stuttgart

Actually not very stupid when diagnosing problems with the switch row. It has some intelligence inside it and is connected via CAN. THis simplifies wiring. The Entire switch row has about 7 wires.

You can use most aftermarket pads. You cannot order w203 pads alone since they are stitched with the leather.

Does anyone have the part number for the complete full switchrow that include the electric sun blind for a pre-facelift.

Am i right in thinking the part number for the harness is A2035403005?

Does the harness come complete with all the relevant plugs for all the connections?

As i understand it from the following LINK the following connections will be made:-

1 - Upper switch row
2 - Ground
3 - Heater pads
4 - Front Sam
5 - ?

What is connector X35/33?

What year and best use the vin to look it up? Are you using the factory heat pads or after market? Because you can order all the plugs and pins to use with the after market pads to connect them to the harness. They run about $25 for everything.

I have the switch row at home out of the wrecked car (just have to find it) -i sold the seats because i found they were sewn into the cloth -- where can you find the aftermarket ones, and will they work with the leather seats i have--how hard are they to install?? and one last note

I have 2 or three sets from old w126s that are not in use anymore (just the heating pads) i figure these will work-- but what about the voltage??? would there be a difference on what is run through these-- i know this is pretty off the wall but if i do not need to order pads, all the better for the pocket book

mj. keep on me for them ( remind me)i know i have the part numbers at the house!

The car is a 2002 vin 203006.

At present i'm not sure whether to use after market or OEM pads from another class.

I need your vin to, there is two different wire harnesses. I need to go through the number of switch rows, But I think the one I have the number for should work. It is the 2001-2004 full option switch row. Just Pm your info and I will look it up.

Are you sure that switchrow part number is correct, not showing in EPC should it not be 2038216958.

The one i would be looking for is for a saloon with all the options - heated seats, parktronic, rear blind, ESP, Door Lock, head rest, interior sensor, tow alarm.

Sorry, just 1 harness, 2 each plugs, and 8 pins. The plugs are two halves that snap together, then insert into the plug block on the bottom of the seat.

This is great thread...Thanks for the information! I will use this information as I build resources to add in comonents to my "full switch row" and coolded seats - If people are adding in aftermarket heat elements on a standard seat with OEM wiring and firing the signal through CAN B then maybe there is HOPE to add in the features I want and a cooled seat system. I hope after reading Steve's comments that the heat element is perforated in a veted w209 seat that I am not dead in the water to add in fans to a OEM heated w203 sport perforated seat...My friend just brought over his new 2009 Dodge Ram and the perforations in that heated and fan vented seat were not much different than in my 2005 w203...

Thanks ALL! - Any and all help is GREAT...I hope to use this to get the parts I need to fire a signal to a control module to power up vented seat fans and other "options"!
