thinking of getting OEM illuminated door sills & I have C7 pkg...
thinking of getting OEM illuminated door sills & I have C7 pkg which has non-illuminated sills on my coupe. Has anyone bought them and installed them yourself? How easy/difficult is this? Does it help that I already have the OEM sills on the car or makes no difference at all. anyone who has them any info is appreciated. thank you.

I think the illuminated sills for the C-coupe and C-sedan are different. The C-coupe has a much longer sill.
tberry: It doesnt matter whether you have non-illuminated sills or not because the OEM sills are metal plates that taped ON your original sill. They will not take out your original sill.

It is not really a plug and play job. You have to drill holes to let the wires get into your car. You have to locate the right power cord & get electricity as well as hooking up the door switch. With proper instructions, it will be a 1 hr job, but my dealer charged me 3 hrs of labor for installing mine!!!

you don't need to drill the body of your car
I did the installation by myself since the dealer wanted to drill a hole on the body. I found a way of drilling only the original plastic sills. That is unavoidable since the lighted sills have to go on top of original sills and they have to get the power from below. In any case, it is not as bad as drilling the body. The downside of the way I did is the fact that you cannot get the power from the hole that MB says you should get. I had to wire all the way back to the trunk. If you want the instructions, let me know what your e-mail address is. I'll send a word doc describing the installation.
