with the 5 1/4 speakers, the RMS levels matched the Alpine amp almost perfectly. also, the 6 1/2 speakers of the same version ran big and required a more invasive install since i would have to get new brackets.

my motivation was to get the most balanced sound and speakers to match the amp.

since the headunit was already installed... the rest ran just over $300 for the speakers, amp, and sub. im going to see it now, but i told them to hide the small amp in the spare tire compartment... so we'll see how it turns out.

i wasn't aware that the 5.25" fit or did you just get brackets to adjust fromt he 6.5 set-up that we have to the 5.25" set up...

brackets had to be made.

the sound is incredible... honestly, it has changed my listening experience. i listen to some jazz and latin sometimes and have never been able to distinguish between all the different layers of just percussion before. i don't have to turn it up to hear this.... but when i'm listening to something like tribe called quest or hiphop, the bass on a setting of 2 or 3 (out of 6) is more than i can comfortable handle. the only thing that beats listening to music in my car now is my headphones:

http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-...7&sr=8-1-spell

unfortuantely, they did not properly hookup my steering wheel controls AND reverse camera. i will be taking it back in on friday to fix this.

i'll take pics when its all done and done.

some things that made me happy was that the installer was so impressed, he's changing his previously planned setup on his car to now have the same speakers and amp as mine.

I called the installer and its all done and all he could say was "it freakin rocks"... I can't wait to get outta work and take it for a cruise.
