Where do you hang your parking permits?

I'm having a problem because I have this parking permit hanger and I cant find a place to hang it.

My 2007 w203 (not sure if other years have the same problem) it has a HUGE rear view mirror(b/c of garage opener option i believe) and if I place my permit there it will look like this, and no one will see my permit from outside the car

So I tried to place it at the bottom of my windshield then it becomes like this

I never noticed where the problem was untill i got a ticket saying they couldn't see my permit numbers from outside which the whole permit would look something like this

I feel so stupid when I saw the ticket.... my solution so far is to place it with my portable navi but I hate this cuz sometimes I put my navi in the glove box or let my gf use it then I don't know where to put my permit.....

Anyone have the same problem? Suggestions/solutions?

thx for reading guys

Joe

Place I used to work had parking permits. I just placed it on my dash near the vent but not against the windshield.

so you just leave it there not held by anything at all? so when you drive its gonna go all over the place so you store it someplace else huh?

Just tape a business card perpendicular along the bottom, effectively making it longer. Then put it on your dash in the corner and you should be able to see the permit number.

Tie a string to the permit and hang it aroud the mirror. Only problem is if the string is too long it might spin around the make the numbers unviewable.

You guys are lucky!

The morons at my college use stickers that you must affix to the window and scrape off with a blade later on!

They have a loop hole - if you have after market tint obviously the sticker would be impossible to remove without damaging the tint, so they allow you to put it on the dash and not affix it to the window.

I decided to do that with my car, but they gave me a ticket for not having tint!!!

I'm going to get a receipt from a tint shop saying that i DO have tint.

Makes me angry just thinking about it - how can the parking enforcement monkey write me up for not having tint without actually rolling down the window and looking?

You should be able to challenge all of those tickets; both the ones where they couldn't see the permit and also the one with your school.

I had two tickets given to me because I put the permit around the rear view mirror and they couldn't see it. I wrote up an appeal and said the permit was on the dash and the guy missed it The guy won't remember checking your car anyway.

Technically, we all pay for our permits, so I don't see why they even have the right to charge you.

I know !!! same problem here but my school sells the plastic hanger so you can put the sticker on it but still, I can't hang it!!! so I just put on the dash in the middle and hold it under my gps antenna (magnetic).
That is soo uncool.

Find out the time of the people who come to issue the ticket and don't park there at those times. You don't even need to get a permit that way.

I suggest not putting the permit parking in place with the suction cup of the navi. You're asking for it to be stolen. Even if you just use the suction cup alone, it'll let the thieves know that you have something expensive inside the car that can be easily stolen. I'd just leave it on the dash, only problem is you might forget to use the parking permit.

It just happened to be a good size where i could wedge it between the windshield and the first notch part. Didn't move around at all.

I guess i'm gonna try some of those methods our forum members suggested.

THANKS guys!

at the beginning of the year, i left it on the mirror and it eventually bent itself around making the numbers on the bottom JUST visible..
...but then i decided to do limo tint on the windshield and now u cant see it
...its only high school and no one checks for tags so im good

Same here, I couldn't hang my parking permit, so I double tape stuck it next to my EZ Pass.

Use velcro it on the windshield... Comes off easy when you want to remove it. Just use Goo Gone or even Windex. Comes on and off easily with the velcro, just put a half inch strip, thats what I did..

I would go talk to the chief of campus police. Now, you need to be polite, talk slowly, and avoid big words. Ask him where you should display the tag. Perhaps they could hold a seminar on how to observe a Mercedes to see if a tag is visible on the rear view mirror. Given the sharp minds of those who patrol the lots, it should not take more than two days in the class room and a week in the field to train them.
